*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

Microsoft are contractually obliged to bring COD to the Switch at some point after the deal they signed with Nintendo as part of the competition investigations into the Activision takeover.

Supposedly a lot of the launch titles are potentially big 3rd party game rather than just Nintendo stuff this time.
A launch day COD would certainly be god for sales with the older audience who are likely to make up a big chunk of launch day buyers

Will it though? Those same people probably already have COD on PC or PlayStation.

Unless you can load your PlayStation COD Warzone profile up on your switch, I can’t see it gaining much traction and even then PlayStation or PC will be the preferred option.

I am not optimistic about that, who is going to enforce bringing COD to the Switch 2 and after 1 game is that the contract filled?

They managed to bring COD to the Wii, it was surely easier to bring COD to the Switch but nothing has appeared in 7 years.

They'd need to make a special COD version Switch, with more storage to hold the game... :D

You joke but that might be an issue.

Well its a legal agreement so ultimately I suppose the courts if it comes to it; its in Microsoft's interests to get it on as many consoles as possible; they've already indicated they're ready to through their support at the Switch 2.
Having already stared porting previously exclusive stuff to PS5 I don't see why they wouldn't.

Personally I think even when New the Switch would have struggled to play most modern COD games without looking and performing like absolute dog excrement; at least a more powerful Switch 2 should be able to run PS4/XB1 level stuff

I don't think the courts will care if COD comes to the Switch 2 unless Nintendo is the one to take it too the courts and a legal battle ensues.

I want you to be right with the Switch 2 getting decent 3rd party support but what has been talked about recently is things like the Halo collection and Gear's collection (I think), the switch 2 cant just be a port dumping ground for games that have already had their time unless they are going to add more value to them. Yes, there will be Nintendo only people that could buy them but is that going to be enough to get continued support?

It’s only ever going to be a port dumping ground for old games that have had their hay day already.

Despite the fact the console is new, it’s still old hat compared to a PlayStation 5. It’s no different to OG switch which was basically knocking on the door of the previous generation console.

It’s not going to be able to play new AAA titles to anything like the same quality as the standard as the aforementioned console or a modest PC. It’s at best going to be able to manage PS4 era games.

Don’t get me wrong, first party games have always been quality as has the decent cross platform indie stuff, but I doubt many people are going to be willing to re-buy Halo for the 3rd time at an inflated price on a switch to get a worse experience than the original game.

It's obviously not great for gamers looking for parity with the latest third party releases but it's going to open the gates for hundreds of ports that many Switch-only households have missed out.

The protracted cross-gen period between PS4 and 5, plus the weaker Xbox Series S and Steam Deck machines mean that there's a huge number of highly scalable games.

Is it likely you'll be able to pre-order the Switch 2 from Amazon? I have £140 of Amazon gift credit so was hoping to use it for the Switch 2. If it is unlikely I'll get something else.

I don't see why you wouldn't, has there been issues with them recently?

It's not recent but remember when people were having Amazon PS5 deliveries go walkies? Hopefully nothing happens around the Switch 2 launch. I'm planning on getting one too with a chunk of Amazon credit.

Was that an Amazon issue or the people who were delivering the packages? Blooming frustrating either way.
