Its back to spinning cogs now, connected it VIA usb to my computer but its not showing up.

I suppose theirs no way to access the stuff that was backed up to Skydrive, as I wont have a copy of the phone numbers on it!

I guess leave it as is while something is "happening".

If nothing does happen though I wonder if you can you reboot the phone while it is plugged in and has the spinning cogs? Volume down and power button?

That may make it show up in the software.

Well theirs a patter immerging now, each time I do a soft reboot, it comes up with the dead battery sign, till its left on charge for a bit then its back to the cogs.

Sounds like the battery is dead and not getting any charge if it only starts working once plugged in.

If you don't care if it melts then why not just take it apart and try a new battery, plenty on ebay.

Cause ill get Nokia to give me a working one as its under warranty and I went and paid sim free money, im entitled to a new device.

Whats annoying is I think theirs no way for me to get access to MY details on the phone and that the built in reset button on this phone has trashed it.

That's what's wrong.

Well just left it on the plate, and it died again whislt running the Cogs on the screen, safe to say then the reset has binned it.

Of course im being stupid...in Skydrive under Outlook.com its listed as people! so have all my numbers in that!

PHEWWWWWWWWWWWW

Just looking at the Clove website and they are saying if its a warrenty thing I have to go to Nokia direct, any "best" ways of going about this?

Your *bricked* phone sounds very much like what mine did. I thought all hope was lost, but it sprang back into life and has worked perfectly ever since.

Well im just going to leave it tonight nowhere near a charge etc, but this is bloody awful stuff even if it does magically start working.

You mean the number keypad for dialing numbers?

As in, click on the Phone tile and then the keypad button at the bottom.

Not my picture but this:

Seriously..?!
Use that dialer, type in the numbers that would relate to someone in your phone book, for instance, Laura, so that's 52872, does it find Laura, no it just brings up the numbers 52872....

Having had a 920 stuck on the spinning gears for 24 hours, I've read all about it. One fix is let it run out of battery power, then it charge it and turn it on, this apparently is the best *fix* and works for most people.

Yours sound like you've cooked the battery. :/

Oh I see, I didn't even know people used phone numbers after entering them and adding a name.

I thought you wanted it for things like 1-800-DINOSAUR

Hah, no, I want to be able to start typing in a persons name and it pick up the number rather than me having to go thru the people hub thing..
Having to use RAPDialer atm which while it does the job doesnt replace the stock dialer for missed calls etc.

I can see how that would be a massive PITA if it is what you are used to!

This app looks like it could be OK? http://www.windowsphone.com/en-gb/store/app/7dialer-free/0587edfa-f1dc-4d4a-83e4-6649c80f8311

Right, it has suddenly started up again, the restore is running.

How is it this morning?

Seems to be back to normal as far as I can tell thus far, battery is holding back to the good old days.

However, I have the firmware running 3047.0000.1326.2007.
Im not sure what stage that is at, but its not the amber update, and the phone is not seeing any updates for it.

That is the pre Amber sim free firmware.

If you plug it in does the NSU windows software see the phone and show an updated version or just 3047.0000.1326.2007?
