Nokia is on the up and this could be a great move, especially with the rumours around Elop.
The quarter shipment announcements were good.

Well seems mine is back to its old trick, battery all over the place etc, heated up then switched itself off a couple of times, so might buy a 620 and send this one back.

Actually does anyone just have the link as to where warranties get dealt with?..it's going back.

Yea, you have to go through a stupid diagnosis thing before you get to the point where you are sending it back, I dont want a refund, I like the phone, I just want one thats working lol.
Should be picking it up tomorrow.

Hmmm. Just had another update, looks like the OS and another firmware update.

Mines now running: FW: 3049.0000.1330.0009 OS: 8.010328.78

Noticed someones complaining about this on Reddit ... got quite a few upvotes.

Windows Phone users that have Vodafone in areas with LTE will be getting a new firmware update, some already have. This is the 3049 update that is supposed to improve LTE. Be aware that this will cause problems with overheating and battery issues. We have tested two dozen phones and are resulted in heavy battery drains when using with 3G. In most cases increasing the battery usage by up to 60%.

Some models, such as the 920 and 925 have shown overheating. The 925 shows extreme overheating, to a point that when you use 3G with Bluetooth and location it can cause heavy discomfort.

I cannot disclose any details, as it might cost my job.

If you are on Vodafone, don't have LTE and get an update, please don't update till the problem has been fixed.

Got lots of upvotes, nobody really confirmed anything so it's probably rubbish.

Honestly wtf is EE playing at?

What is taking them so long to approve the update when other carriers done it weeks ago.

Hurry the F UP!

Maybe for good reason, looking like Vodaphone might have rushed things a bit and is killing a few fair phones batteries.

Mines been fine, that's a Vodafone handset.

So So impressed with the L920 @ the moment, as for the first time I've replaced a point and click camera with it on holiday and its been fantastic. Its also survived a few drops, been in the water, been in the sand and its still working as good as gold.

I am going to upgrading to the 1020 / 1020 successor. :D

I think the 1020 successor is going to do wonders for sales. Can't wait to get it. I just hope they don't wait to long to release it 1080p screen and quad core with even better camera, he'll yeah I'm there.

I could see those upgrades happening in April kind of time, under a new MS chosen name/ range)

Weirdly, it makes me a little sad we wont see the flourish of "Nokia" titled threads any more in this forum.

It won't be. It'll be Nokia phones they have the right to the name, nokia staff etc. They basically purchased the company. Nothing's really changed. It'll still be Nokia developing Nokia phones.
Expect to see a surface/Microsoft branded phone made by Nokia on top of the Nokia range.

Did make me giggle. Nokia German tweet

Despite them being more profitable and huge market share.

They have only got the Nokia name for the dumbphone market range and teh "lumia" name, they are NOT allowed to Nokia brand on any new WP models.

I know its still all the (more or, looking like less) Nokia people will be behind the new models, but they are not going to be called Nokia, would be surprised if MS even keep the Lumia name.

Yeah your right, I hadn't read that before. So all current WP lumia devices can continue to be named nokia lumia, new WP can't be called nokia but can be called lumia.

Now we just need MS to buy BB for its patents as well, looks like BB will be sold off by the end of the year, but no to.

Well we know more or less that Nokia might have the phablet and Tablet coming out, I imagine these would be the last models before the sale is actually completed at the end of the year/ start of next year, I imagine these would be under Nokias name.
It whether or not MS want to keep the Lumia name range, which I think they should, it been built up VERY well by Nokia under their image, and would be a total waste to throw that away, it would be like starting all over again. Give or take a few models I imagine they are working on, their might be a bit of a cross over period, unless they have a plan, re released an update 920, 520 etc, give them all spec bumps under the GDR3 update, and launch EVERYTHING at one under a new name and punch into the market that way.

I ruddy love the Nokia Pro and Smart cam. Bought a tripod which should be turning up today, going to try the long exposure photo on the dual carriageway up the road tonight. :D

Guys, I am having a hard time getting on with Android. I've used iOS for some time but tried a HTC Desire. Hated it and got a iPhone 4S. Bored of iOS again so went for an S4. Whilst I love the screen I just hate Android. It's way over the top. Since I am bored of iOS also and I quite like WP on my wifes phone I figured I should try it myself.

I'm torn though, 920 or 925. Also with the 1020 around the corner I think I should wait a few weeks to see if the 9xx's come down in price. I am buying this off contract so spending £500 on the 1020 is out of the question sadly.
Opinions?

Its up to you, assuming you know about the WP OS I wont go on about that.

The 920 you are getting the wireless charging, and that has spoiled me, but IF i didnt have it in the first place I dont think it would be such a big deal.

I like the 925, plus you get all of the camera thats in the 920, a lot sleeker lighter phone, but without wireless charging built in, though I have read that the screen on the 925 is meant to be one of the best on the market.

Really they are both good phones, just which design you prefer the look of more.

I love the yellow 920's but they are priced much higher for some reason over the black and white variants. The main thing that is bothering me is despite the 925 being an upgrade its a downgrade when it comes to storage. I won't be buying from Vodafone so it will be the 16GB version.

cu3ed, what are you going to say about WP OS? My wife has it and the biggest issue I can see are the apps. iOS is great for app selection. Android isn't far behind apart from the apps are full of adverts. Apps don't concern me too much as I still have an iPad and my app usage has declined a lot over the past two years.
