I have reset the phone and that seems to have done the trick.
 
Ok so to answer my own question it is now available for EE but blocked for preview users, I used nokia software recovery tool to install Cyan/8.1 fresh then installed 8.1 Update 1.
 
Ahhh, if its blocked for preview users that could explain why i cant see it...

Will it be available for previewers shortly or are we recovering back to an earlier bersion then upgrading?

I had flashed my phone to CV with DP but couldnt get update so I sed the recovery tool as Im impatient. It put me back on EE firmware but straight to cyan which was nice then reenrolled in DP and sorted.
 
So I finally have 8.1...and tbh I've hated it.

I like the new features, but it's got a bug meaning I have to literally leave it charging constantly. The phone is constantly hot. I've checked and no apps are running in the backgroud yet the battery app is showing the phone annihilating it's own battery. 50% in 2 hours of music playing and nothing else.

I'm at a loose end. I was on the verge of binning it before where I was bored of 8.0 but at least it worked all day. Argh, is it possible to downgrade to 8.0? Does anyone know?

You can reflash your phone with an 8.0 ROM if you want, you will loose all data. Instead I would try backing everything up (8.1 has a new backup thing which will save texts and some app data etc) and doing a hard reset I think this will likely solve your battery woes.
 
I've left mine permanently running on Battery saver mode but allowing Whatsapp, I found it was the Email client causing issues and the overheating/terrible battery.

Binning it as soon as I get another phone, Envirofine will give me £50 for it, so that'll do.

Oh and the wireless charging is on the blink as well, woke up this morning with only 30%. FFS

Had that problem yesterday, just unplug it from charge. Turn phone on, then plug it back to charge. Update and all is a go.

I'm all updated now except for Cyan, still being blocked for DP testers...

GMail user?

I'm on Hotmail/Outlook, no problem. Best phone I've had in years.
