****The Official Note III Thread****

Hi mate, been a while! Hurry up and buy the Note 3 already, what you waiting for?! :D

Hey Dude, yes it has been a while! I decided against buying the Note 3 and put the money towards a tablet instead, as I'm very happy with my N5.

How are you finding the Note 3 are you enjoying your experience?

I knew you wouldn't keep the S4 much longer either haha, glad you're liking the N5!

Loving the Note 3, gave the 5s a go in between but I got fed up with it after an hour or so, never letting go of my note 3 again (until the S5 comes that is, that goes without saying).

I think the S5 will have some amazing things but I also think it won't beat the Note 3 in many areas.

Samsung won't allow that to happen because the Note series are the flagships and only the Note 4 would naturally exceed it.

I'm staying with this until then I reckon.

Well mine has arrived today, both the phone and sim card arrived within an hour of each other so that was nice.

Wow, what a whopper, suits me sir, oof!

However...ummm...it's so blooming different to HTC Sense! I'm having a bit of trouble working my way round it and finding what I want, after 4 years of Sense it's taking a bit of getting used to.

Missing apps?
Some of the apps that were preinstalled on HTC that I use all the time like torch and voice recorder don't seem to be around on this one...are there buried apps somewhere (as in, are they bundled with Android) or do I just need to download the various apps that I'm missing?

Guides?
Also (this may sound daft), are there any recommend guides for using the Samsung Touchwiz system? I don't want to root it and invalidate the warranty (I'm bound to knacker it up) so I just want to use what's there and customise it the best I can.

Copying data from one phone to another
Finally...and this one is a bit of a difficult one...how do you move the data from your apps (save games etc.) onto a new phone?

Contact lists, fine, SMS, job done, how to redownload apps, not a problem....app data...that's proving more tricky. Any suggestions?

Thanks very much. :)

2 areas of improvement could be a better camera by having OIS, and a set of stereo speakers.

And less shinyness to the body - ala HTC One or Oppo 5.

Helium - App Sync and Backup should help with your app data.

Torch - there's a stock widget call assistive light

Do you like the TW launcher? If not install a custom one like Nove, many more options to customise.

Oooh fantastic thanks, I shall take a look! :D

Sorry to keep asking questions but...what's Nove and how do I go about doing that? I take it that's not rooting then, and doesn't affect the functionality of the S-pen? I plan on making good use of that!

I did search for it but all the results were coming back with Note 3 November so I'm a bit stuck.

Thanks! :)

Yep you can have it running in parallel and switch whenever you like. And go back to touchwiz.

I have the paid version with many more features, well worth the price.

The notification LED can flash Orange too. I have reddit sync installed now and notifications via that glow orange - No options to change the colour though from what I can see.

Good to know either way!

I paid for light flow which has worked brilliantly for me, allows a hell of a lot of customisation to notification leds from colours to led speeds and quite a few other options.

CyanogenMod is coming very, very soon:

The CM team has published its software source code for various models of the Note 3 to GitHub. The kernel and ROM code is up for the international model as well as the T-Mobile and Sprint variants, but the AT&T and Verizon versions are absent, almost certainly because of those carriers' insistence on locked bootloaders for all their phones. The device isn't officially supported yet, but ROMs are in active development and have been assigned maintainers.

all ready to order one of these (replacement for my Iphone 4)

only signal "issue" reports putting me off - I'm with "three" - should I be concerned ?

Depends. Are you in an area with iffy signal? Do you get one bar a lot of the time? If so, I wouldn't do it, or get it from Amazon where you can return it easily. No? You'll be fine.

I suspect the signal issue may be software based rather than hardware based, so that's why I'm so eager to try out CM.
