****The Official Note III Thread****

My wife is looking for a non flip case (she has the official view flip at the moment). Has anyone found nice pouch for the phone when It's on the move. The view is nice but stops it being able be used in a car mount and the window doesn't hold enough information

That watch looks amazing, how are you finding it so far? I'm thinking of getting one myself!

On another note (no pun intended), does anyone know how I can get the status bar to be centred like in the picture below?

Thanks

Sounds perfect, maybe pick up the black one end of the month ^^

Dropped and smashed the screen on my HTC One and thinking to replace it with the Note III. Seeing some iffy prices being advertised, what should I realistically expect to pay for one?

Galaxy gear looks nice but went with Sony Smart Watch 2 in the end, much much cheaper, better looking (imo) and doesn't need a daily charge

Can you now reply to text / messages from the Gear? or still has to be done via s voice?

I've had mine for a couple of months now. I will confess I don't wear it daily, but thats mainly down to what I'll be doing in the day and you wouldn't wear your best watch to only get ruined.

But when I do wear I love its functionality, especially in the car.

Right Galaxy note lovers - After ordering one from ebay and it being cancelled I ordered the nexus 5. Lovely phone but its faulty so its going back!

Just how much bigger is the note 3 than the nexus 5 in the hand? I found the nexus 5 to not feel that big at all!

Thanks :)

I can't give you a comparison as I haven't had the Nexus 5 but in average size hands it fits perfectly, I absolutely love it from everything from making a phone call (!), to browsing the web, reading on it and everything inbetween.

At night the missus and I watch Netflix on it, last night I realised I was holding it between thumb and middle finger, it's so light that isn't a problem for long periods. Just superb.

Right pop pickers, I've got a bit of a question for you...have I bungled a memory card purchase?

I bought one of these just before Christmas:

A Sandisk Micro SD XC Class 10 64GB card.

I've completed a speed test on it tonight and it came back as this:

Hmmm, 10MB write doesn't sound great to me, especially with the potential of 4K video recording.

Have I made a bungle buying this card or does it seem slow to you?

Ta!

That Sandisk is indeed a class 10, so 10MB/s write speed is about right.

10MB/s = 80Mb/s, more than enough for the Note 3's 4K Video recording which is under 50Mb/s.

4K @ 60fps and OIS is where it's at

Wotcha kona, glad to see you're still helping out Note buyers! ;)

I thought it would be as well being class 10 then I've been reading about Samsung cards that are also class 10 which write at 70MB/s. I'm wondering if the class of card doesn't mean as much as it used to, there seems to be Sandisk cards which are class 10 which write at 10MB/s and the pro series that go to 90MB/s.

Good to hear from the numbers that you think it'll be OK though, I have to admit I haven't had time to try it yet!

Even if I do record at 4K at the moment I don't have anything to play it back on, and won't have for some time by the look of it...madness!

I have both the Sandisk and the Samsung cards.

The Sandisk only just meets the class 10 standard, the Samsung can and does write at approx. 20MB/s, and are meant to read at about 70MB/s.

However when the Samsung card is in the Note 3, and a cable is used to transfer from PC to phone, I can only achieve about 10MB/s. When the card is directly used on the PC via a card reader, I can get around 20MB/s.

The note 3 has OIS? Didn't realise that!

The Note 3 has 'Smart Stabilisation', i.e. Digital image stabilation. Not Optical. I haven't looked into how they compare though.
