****The Official Note III Thread****

@ kevpuk - rooting is easy enough via chainfire, but you'll trip KNOX and void warranty. If your on old firmware there is a workaround.

Ah, I saw KNOX in the pile of -ware on the phone.....haven't done anything with it - when I tapped the shortcut, it offers the chance to install and I haven't yet......
Haven't read up on what it is/whether worth installing yet - new to Samsung handsets

Knox free, region free custom rom due shortly from SweetROM dev. His reply to my question about the next version:

Yes wait. I'm skipping V6 and already built V7 4.4.2. from official base.

I'm just flashing now to test if its ok. First build didin't boot but I am using old bootloader. Now trying with new one. I wanted to avoid it but looks like I can't :) Hopefully all good. No mods yet except for removing region lock and knox plus some hidden features enabled.

Will let you guys know tomorrow how I go

I see you have borrowed a Note 3 Andy - nice.

What do you think of the screen, speed and the device overall?

Would you get one?

Ha ha, I've never been in this thread before... just popped in out of curiosity :)

I really like it. I got it to compare with the Oppo N1 and taking the Note 3 out of the box I loved it! Despite it's size, it's relatively light weight. It matched my feeling when I first held the S2. You almost can't believe it's that light.

I have been looking round at prices, think I need to sell the Oppo N1 and my S4 before I do so though.

Having said that, I played with the Oppo N1 again this morning and still really like it, apart from the camera. The beta versions of Color OS look to be bringing some improvements too.

Where's the cheapest place to buy the Note 3 at the moment? I might see if Clove.co.uk will do me a deal on this one :)

The screen  Reminds me why I loved my Desire when it came out (yup I'm an oversaturated colours man!). Its nice to have a Black 'black' too but jesus this thing is bloody massive. Looking at reviews of it, its clear the size isn't that much more than the Nexus 5 though!

So far I think the S pen is gimmicky and of no use to myself but I'm sure i'll find some use for it.......... IF I keep it. I can't believe how big it is! The audio is infinitely better than the nexus 5 and seems a lot louder and a lot more clear at higher volume.

The camera though : Genuinely I believe the nexus 5 is far better in low light, I will test it tomorrow in daylight but having not long got back from work - its dark and I have to say lowlight performance seems to be.... adequate to poor.

I'm going to abuse this thing tonight when its fully charged and see how much of a hammering I can give the battery!

Have "Image Stabilisation" enabled in the first tab to infinitely increase low light image quality.

I realise in modern times it doesn't matter about interrupting a charge but I am going to leave it charge otherwise I'll get nothing done all evening and I've got painting to get on with!

Thank you though mate I will try it when its done (only have a box room to do) and see how I get on with it! The phone itself is lovely, but I'm not convinced its not too big! Also filling with regret at the S5 specs! ;)

Not sure if its an issue with my particular install but why wont skydrive download images properly! They download but can't open them from es file manager at all! :(

66% battery left and I used it for ages last night! Battery is unbelievable! Is there any way gents without having to root to get the battery percentage to show at the top?

Edit : camera is reasonable in the light today!

I have all the files I need to flash SweetROM now, little bit of extra legwork needed to restore root permissions (flashable zip) and you have to use the new bootloader as well which isn't a huge deal.

I noticed you pop up on the post in XDA - was going to wait and see how you got on with it before giving it a go :D

Was running 4.4 on my old S3 and it was great - looking forward to getting it on the note :)

Waiting until I get home as I realised I don't have the correct drivers installed on this workstation or the Samsung cable. Better to be safe :p

Should all be smooth though, a full wipe will be needed either way so a long hour or two lies ahead.
