****The Official Note III Thread****

Just make them aware a majority of Korean females use Note size phones and watch them slowly quieten down. Atleast that works for me when my mates try and refer to it as a brick :P

I was going to wait for the note 4 but after seeing the specs for
S5 and seeing it's not a massive jump from the s4 I don't see a massive jump from the note 3 to note 4

I've come from s3 to the note and the quickness is very noticeable

Recommended ROM

Just recently updated my EE Note 3 to 4.4.2 and didn't realize there was a new SD card permission system. Now some of my apps don't work as intended.

Luckily ES Explorer has a 4.4.2 update and my MX player as well. But Wifi Transfer Pro hasn't been updated since last year and I'm not sure if the developers will so I effectively can't use it.

Annoying.

Anyway, I wasn't going to ROM until closer to xmas (wanted to stick with stock for a long period in case of warranty issues) but now I think I'll be looking to root and ROM soon. I honestly has a preference for close to stock ROMs (think Wanam) and not AOSP/AOKP ones.

Anybody can recommend me any light close to stock ROMs?

To be honest the S4 to Note 3 was quite a big leap, I'd say from S5 to Note 4 there's probably gonna be some big leaps too.

Lol that really helps? Korean females? I'd probably get laughed at more for saying that. "They're girls so they have massive handbags to carry it in" etc.

As Elite has mentioned, actually (IMO), the difference is relatively big; Snapdragon 600 to 801, 1080p to 4K video recording, water resistance, bigger battery, etc. All of these things add up to a significantly better phone in my opinion.

Also, as the Note 3 comes out in the second half of the year, it is essentially a generation ahead of that year's Galaxy S, so i wouldn't be surprised if the Note 4has a few tricks up its sleeve..... even things like the camera on the Note 3 (the exact same sensor as on the S4) was noticeably better, due to softare optimisations.

There is a pretty easy fix for the SD card permsisions issue. look here.

Actually, i think there's even an Xposed Module that does the same thing.

As for a light ROM recommendation..... why exactly do you want a custom ROM?

I swore by custom ROMs on my old S2, but since getting my Note 3, rooting and installing Xposed Modules, i don't see the need - all of my requirements are met with xposed modules.

It sure does, the fact that so many asian woman with small hands are able to use a note device just makes them feel less manly :D

SweetROM sounds like what you need:

Been running this ever since he released them and to be honest they've been perfect, all the bloatware removed and some nice tweaks to give you overall a better all round performance and some great battery life. I believe mrk also uses this rom so he'll be able to vouch for it too.

Like many people on this forum it's a choice between M8 or Note 3. Currently on my Nexus 4 with upgrade due 20th April. Priorities for next upgrade are big screen & 4G but not sure if 5inch is enough now. Anyone else gone from 4.7 to 5 & actually noticed the difference in day to day use?

At this point build quality will likely be the decider, as i loved the HTC One X but it always felt cheap on the back (HTC logo fell out just like my Desire & case creeked a lot).

Does the Note 3 feel cheap/plastic'ish & has anyone tried both these phones?

I went from a One X, to a One and now have a Note 3
One X was nice, but a little flawed.....One was beautiful and a really great phone, but battery became an issue for me.
Note 3 is not as 'wow' as the One, but seems pretty solidly built to me and I actually think it is a decent looking phone. I have it in a genuine S-View cover, and am very happy with the look, feel and overall performance of the phone.

I'm afraid I'm not rooted. But I should really do it soonish.

I might just do what you're doing and see how root by itself goes.

Thanks for the suggestion. SweetROM is definitely on my list. Developer support for it seems pretty spot on. I had Omega for my S3 for a while so I wouldn't mind giving that ago some time as well.

man I cant believe I've only had my note 3 7 months... dont get me wrong I love it but feels like I've had it forever!! anyone else suffering from shineyitis where theres absolutely nothing on the market that comes close to the sheer brilliance of the note 3 to make it worth replaceing? :D

Have to agree, the Note 3 is stellar and the Oppo Find 7 did tempt me but I didn't fancy dropping a screen size :D

Anyone know where the master sync is?
My emails stopped working saying it can't sync. Try and sync and it says master sync is turned off
