****The Official Note III Thread****

Just ordered a note 3 from smartfone, £330 delivered after cashback for a B grade one (my b grade note 2 was pristine) gives me a chance to decide wether I want to stick with it for a bit as they offer a 10 day no quibble guarantee, still like my HTC One but kinda bored of it

I have to completely disagree with you there. This phone feels like a child's toy.

:p

You seem to be bashing the note 3 a lot ever since the network "issues" you had with it lol. Most of the things you claim about the note 3 haven't been echoed that much elsewhere :p

Ordered a replacement battery (genuine) for £15. Worth having a spare just in case anyway but I mainly wanted see how much the cells in the original have deteriorated since I've had it as I've been charging it to full on purpose from a certain percentage almost exclusively (5%).

Slightly different, my wife has a flip case and decided she doesn't want to have a flip case. Anyone got any recommendations for a minimalist case - will put screen protector on to protect the case in her had bag so again any recommendations on a a protector for this screen.

Gah my note has arrived but rather than being a simfree handset its got O2 branding on the splash screen etc, is there anyway of removing this and putting a simfree firmware on via odin etc?

The new battery is definitely lasting longer than the old one, still on the first charge and it is at 50% now after exactly 17 hours. That's a mix of WiFi, 4G and DC-HSPA. Normally at 17 hours I'd be looking at battery in the 10-20% range as of the last couple of months.

So rule of thumb is don't let your battery get to below the critical threshold but start recharging when the phone says to connect up (20%) else cell longevity will deteriorate.

The issues that many others have had (check XDA) ;).

The build quality of this phone has been widely criticised...

I like this phone, because it's bloody quick, the screen is beautiful and it's light - it doesn't feel like a massive phone.

There, some balance :).

The only place you feel plastic on this phone is on the silver bezel surround, the rest is either all glass or all faux leathery matte so people criticising a part that only spans a single digit percentage of the phone is a bit silly :p

Well my n3 was blacklisted for some reason. No big deal, returned it and got a full refund. Perks of buying second hand.

The note 3 was solid for me but the stylus... I found myself hardly using it compared to n2 because it was so flimsy.

I really like the stylus on the Tegra note.
A solid round stylus not a cheap feeling flimsy rectangle thing like the spen.

Hopefully note4 will have a better stylus. :D
