****The Official Note III Thread****

Those of you who've rooted and tripped KNOX, do you know the actual status of any warranty replacements/repairs, if they become necessary?

Is it just as simple as KNOX tripped = no warranty, or are Samsung not that bothered about it?

I'm tempted to get either the S5 or the Note 4 once it's out, but I don't think I'd want to get it if I couldn't root it, and losing the warranty to do so isn't something I'm really that keen on.

With my S4 I went to the official Samsung repair center with a faulty charging block, they changed it and at the time I had Knox tripped with the message, they according the the slip I was given did a full check on the device.

Sigh, after a long time waiting, and lots of phone calls and emails to samsung in various departments my Note 3 arrived back to me yesterday in exactly the same condition, apart from a little bit of damage to the bezel - according to samsung this isnt covered by the warranty nor by their postal insurance or whatever, and i need to claim against the repair center, this is just madness, not something id expect from samsung to be honest.
The whole silver bezel around the top is wonky as hell, looks as though they tried to do something and failed :(

I tried a S5 yesterday - and not sure if my Note 3 is overly "yellow" whites wise (it is very possibly slightly) - but the S5 whites were way way whiter - looked "cold" compared to my Note 3

Not sure what's up with my note but it appears some apps can't write to internal or external SD card, as a result apps like Spotify or Tetris Blitz are closing straight away, I can change permissions of the folders via root explorer but still no luck, tried different ROMS too.

Any ideas what the problem is?

Replacing with my iPhone 5s with a Note 3 in a few days after not using Android since ICS on a Galaxy S2. Therefore I have no idea what i'm really doing with android anymore!

Which custom ROM do you all rate the best? I've read you have to stick to Samsung based ROMs to retain S-Pen functionality? Sweet ROM seems to be recommended.

Also, I've been having a Google on how to root these, and i'm finding a few different methods, flashing CWM or cf-autoroot?. Does anyone have a link to a good rooting guide for 4.4.2? :)

It was I!

Yes, on the stock firmware, the algorithm used to workout the signal strength is just wrong.

It's less bad on CyanogenMod.

My Note III is going back, overall a bit disappointed :( , I really liked my previous Note II (before my HO) but this just doesn't seem as good, cant really say why but there is just no wow about it, maybe it feels more of the same to the Note II I'm not sure, I found the camera the biggest disappointment, seemed to constantly be a lag from pressing the button to hearing the shutter sound so half the time didn't know if I'd actually taken the picture, shame really as I liked the look and feel of it
