****The Official Note III Thread****

iPhone 5. Been with iPhones since the 3G. Love this so far the size is just perfect. Got Nova Launcher and the Moonshine icon pack. Also downloaded the L keyboard from Amazon app store.

On that note can anyone recommend a keyboard? Touchwiz is ok and not sure about this L keyboard. I think I remember hearing something like 'Swift' keyboard was good?

Also after some recommendations for wall papers?

maybe you mean swiftkey?

i found google keyboard much more user friendly though - swiftkey makes it very difficult to type words not in it's dictionary, whereas google keyboard allows you to type words not in it's dictionary without autocorrecting it all the time, and if you do want to add it to the dictionary, it's very easy - 2 taps,

since disabling google now and location history tracking my battery life is stupidly good

before I'd get to end of day near to battery used up

today 16h 6m and 43% battery left

wow, not bad!!

i'll give that a go too and see how i get on/ i often use a battery and a half in a day, even without THAT much use.

I like it to be honest, however I've decided the note as it stands is not for me so it'll be going up on the mm ASAP. I can be fickle like this, annoying when I know I'm doing it too lol

Any decent cases that don't cost the earth? Like the look of some spigen ones but not sure if I would like them in the flesh

I had the SPIGEN Neo Hybrid (Champagne) beautiful case...but I've ended up going naked, case free. Just prefer the feel, weight and look without a case

I'm using the same case in satin silver, its a great case and looks really sleek, it actually looks like the phone was designed that way rather than it having a case on.

Might seem like an odd question but when I try and take a picture in lowish to low light conditions my screen has lines across it and flickers a bit anyone else noticed this?

It's probably in low light mode?

The chrome bezel trim behind my volume rocker has broken off

My phone is like an abused housewife now :(

This is a 'known issue' I believe. I have Llama set to turn off WiFi when the Camera opens and this helps, but doesn't totally solve it. Although it's 'known' to many Note 3 users, I don't think Samsung recognise it.

Oh no! You can't be carrying a phone that looks like it walked into a door, you'll need to get a new one, Note 4?

If the Note 3 is metal, then yeah!

Otherwise I might just get an M8 and GPE it -_-

still loving my Note 3 - best phone I've owned

great build quality, speaker out is good, Audio quality via headphone hack superb (as good as my Iphone 4), great screen and great battery life

getting around 15-17 hours of general usage per charge

whats not to like (apart from GPS lock which seems very slow)

can't wait to see what they do for the Note 4

My Note 3 is starting to show its age. Granted it's pretty battered but that's par for the course in my line of work unfortunately. It's starting to feel sluggish, and there's enough bloatware on it to completely lock up my older phones.

Obviously Vodafone likes me having bloatware so I can't just delete it, so I'm thinking it's time to free it from its shackles and root it.

Have any of you guys successfully rooted an Android 4.4.2 Note 3? I've done some Googling and found loads of info but sadly nothing relating to my exact phone.

According to this site:

It will work on Android 4.4.2 with build numbers ending in NC2 or NC4.

Mine ends in neither of those :(

Anyone had any luck?

There's no need to root it or install a recovery if you just want rid of the branding bloat. Just flash the standard Samsung vanilla BTU firmware, NF4 iirc. Backup you data first of course, clean it all out factory reset, format disk etc. Then flash it over, it'll feel a hell of a lot faster.

There's a couple of firmwares I leave here for reference. The latest Vodafone and UK (BTU). You may have to register.

If you want to go custom, again you don't need to root anything. Flash the latest custom recovery, copy over any rom you fancy to the internal SD and install the rom from the recovery screen. The roms are pre-rooted and depending on what you want completely free of bloatware etc.
