****The Official Note III Thread****

Going back to Samsung based ROM for the final few weeks leading to NOte 4 release. yesterday I used Navigation a lot around London and was getting annoyed with the random reboots that still happen when navigating and also I tried to use the IR remote but it would randomly reboot again.

CM11 is great and I prefer it but the reboots are really annoying as they happen when I need the feature I'm trying to use the most.

I'll be trying out LiquidSmooth ROM.

bizzare I use navigation (maps) and IR on stock Samsung rom and I don't ever recall a crash or reboot, infact I cant think this thing has ever rebooted itself unlike my htc one

Read my post again. I said I get the reboots on CM11 and I'm going back to Samsung based ROM.

Edit*
Oops kind of my bad there as LiquidSmooth is not a Samsung based ROM, so I will probably not try that just yet :p Where's Wanam these days...

Edit2*
Doing further research shows LiquidSmooth to be quite a bit different in build to default CM11, new kernel, new build internals and so on so may well fix the rebooting issues. Will install it over CM11 and test, if it fixes navigation reboot then sorted. If not then back to Samsung.

I downloaded the latest Crash first and went to install it but every time it hangs on "starting Aroma installer" - No amount of fiddling got it to work and I'm on the latest CWM recovery too.

I ended up getting the latest SweetROM which is now on GNG1 too so all's well. No issues, fast and battery life appears to be good. I might try Ultimate Kernel too as reports show that kernel to have among the best battery among the chosen few kernels out there.

Took me the entire night to get back up to speed with all the tweaks, Xposed modules and app+data restores.

The only small bug is that choosing a ringtone causes settings to fc but you can bypass that by using es file manager to select the tone instead. The devs are working on that bug though so I expect it will be patched soon.

Edit*
Ahhh it's nice to have apt-x back. You don't realise how good it is until you've been away from it for a couple months and switch back again. In my car I can hear the difference between standard bluetooth audio streaming vs using the apt-x codec.

Has anyone else encountered this?
I have a note3 on the Three network, purchased in April
this year. I upgraded the android OS a few weeks
ago and now my phone is freezing randomly
for 4 or 5 seconds at a time. Not just the screen
but music will also pause during the freeze.
It happens whether wifi is switched on or not and
I haven't noticed any effects on battery life since installing
the update. Android version 4.4.2 installed and
kernel version 3.4.0-1955971

Does anyone have any advice?.

whats the best ROM these days on the Note 3?

i find that with the introduction of xposed modules, custom roms aren't really needed anymore.

That said, i am running a custom rom, just to see what it's like - Echoe Rom v15. Most of my phone's mods are via xposed, but a few little mods are from Echoe. If you are going custom ROM, then decide if you want all the touchwiz goodies like S-Pen features and multi-window. If you do, then that rules out AOSP based ROMs like cyanogenmod.

I chose Echoe because it is samsung-based, so i keep my s pen features, etc.

haven't experienced that before.
I'd suggest installing a clean ROM?

But Multiwindow!! - how do you live without it! - a gorgeous big 1080p screen is asking for multi-tasking capabilities! :)

I haven't used my Note 3 for the past week as I'm temporary/permanently moving to my OnePlus One so decided to also put CM11 onto my note 3 yesterday.

I like the look of it and there are some things I like. I'm not sure if I will miss the S-Pens functionality or not, I probably mostly used it for screen capturing, drawing something and then clicking share.

As for the multi-tasking capabilities, I just never really used it. I would every so often for example a calculator or something. I'm neverin a position where I want to watch youtube videos while doing something else... interested in what you actually use it for then in day-to-day operation.

Sad, I remember when The Verge used to be cool.

starting to struggle getting a full day out of mine now, either the battery is borked or ive got some rouge app sucking it dry, checked a few emails this morning from around 7:30am and its now at 77% might try a factory reset and see how that goes

Hi, can someone recommend good Car (Windscreen) Holder for Note 3? IT official samsung the best or other brands make good too? Thanks

Whilst it's funny, and it does have a point (The Verge image)... one thing I will say, I bought the original Note and sold it on pretty quick as it was too big for me. The Note 3 I love...

I guess I'm just saying opinions can change over time is all.

That's because the Note 3 is much better sized than the Note was. It's lighter, thinner, has more grip and better one handed, yes the Notes can be used one handed and I have medium size hands!
