I think the point here is that IF the second tier Pascal (or Polaris) will give existing 980Ti performance it will be priced cheaper though I don't believe it will be £300, more like £400-£450. £300 will get us R9 Fury or 980 level performance.

On release when I got mine for £409 it was still faster/cheaper used less power than a 7970 at the time

So what you're saying is that those with a 980ti will currently get mid level Pascal performance at no extra cost?
980ti owners are looking good for 12 months at least I reckon, as there won't be anything worth upgrading to until we have the big stuff.
no, but a 1070 should cost about £300 and be about as fast as a current 980Ti.
By that theory a 970 should be as quick as a 780Ti. It is not
People are forgetting the shrink we will have much small die at the same performance at 14nm than 28nm and Amd need a good showing here as well, and Nvidia will follow suit up to a certain point, I do believe the big guns will be late this year or early next year.
If Amd are first it will depend on what they do and they need a very good showing because the state they are in and to push Nvidia.

The original Titan on release was £980-£1000 not £800. I remember because I bought one. That was the cheapest I could find.

I got my original ones for £839.99
I could have got them for £829.99 if I had shopped around a bit and had been prepared to settle for non Asus branded ones.
I remember the prices increasing very quickly on launch day as retailers made a killing.

And that is on the same die with the same memory tech. Really not hard t see a 1070 equal or slightly beat a 980Ti for about 300 notes.

What? I think you need to read what is going on and what is being discussed because what you have just written makes no sense and is out of context.
That isn't what we are talking about though. Yes the 1080Ti ( or whatever it will be called) will be a £500-£600 gpu, but we are talking about 980Ti PERFORMANCE, which will no doubt be matched (maybe even beaten) by Nvdias 970 pascal equivalent for ~£300.
