All we need is for them to start selling engineering samples as "early access" cards, and we're there.

Alternatively, a "premium edition" with a small metal figurine of Jen Hsun and a cloth map (of nvidia offices).

Sweet. Will probably get a 1080 to replace my 980 if it is indeed 980 sli performance. Only 180w tdp as well.

From the dollar prices I'm guessing we are looking at around £500 for the 1080 and £320 for the 1070?

lol at all the people saying:

"You wont get 980ti performance for ~£300"

"The 1080 won't be faster than the 980Ti"

"Don't be stupid, no cards will have gddr5x until at least August/September"

:p

£580 for the GTX1080 and £375 for the GTX1070.

The GTX1080 which AT says is 25% faster than a GTX980TI has 40% more TFLOPS than a GTX1070 and the latter is stuck with GDDR5 too,so is probably more bandwidth limited.

Base model is $599 or £415. Or $699 for the shinier one.

So who's buying two? :D

Hmmm ... all seems extremely questionable to me. From paper launch, to performance numbers, to STILL no verifiable demos shown to press (AMD did that 4 months ago), to "founders edition" - i.e. you have to wait ages for mass availability, but pay more for a first trickle.

Hugely sceptical of all this.

Seems like they were desperate to pre-empt AMD.

Also they've gone backwards with industrial design. Those shrouds look like american cars ...

But again, those benchmarks from two days ago seem to be real and like I said before, its real performance is about 40% better than a single GTX 980Ti, probably about 25% faster than TitanX. It was strange when he hasn't even mentioned the 980Ti though.
However, based on the information on their website, it's easy to see that in real terms it's not the double performance of GTX 980, I'd say about 70-80%. That's still impressive and well worth the price tag.

As i suspected, in order for me to get the sort of performance bump i want with a single card over two 970's I'm going to have to wait until 2017 for the proper full fat Pascal cards.

970 SLI will do just fine until then.

Those are prices for the founders edition. $599 and $379 will translate to around £500 and £320 in uk prices after VAT for the normal cards.

Also, the 1070 still has more Tflops than the 980Ti and it Is supposed to be faster than a titan x so you are going to be getting ~980Ti performance (maybe a bit more) for around £320
