** The Official Nvidia GeForce 'Pascal' Thread - for general gossip and discussions **

This founders edition stuff is more likely happening because yields are not as good as they want. So they are making a cherry picked line to make the 1080 and 1070 look better than it is overall. And if review sites only show founders edition cards if the normal ones don't clock as well then you can see where nvidia pr money is going.

Also none of the presentation gave away any tea performance info, the only performance enhancements were shown from the new multi projection tech. Which does not apply to the majority of situations at the moment.

The nvidia slides show the 1080 as twice as fast as a 970 in gaming performance and about three and a half times as fast in VR gaming performance.

Need to see some real benchmarks though...

What's tea performance? Pascal can make tea - count me in! How many times I have had a long gaming session and wanted a cuppa but could not be arsed to walk to the kitchen! :p

That would make it 40% faster than a GTX980TI. That might make the initial £375 price OK then....!

That could mean a GTX1060 is almost GTX980TI level performance or over double my GTX960 in performance. I will be having some of that please!

Polaris....watch out Pascal's about! :p

Even the 780tis were going for circa 300 and have only dropped to below 200 recently.

Anyone paying £300 for a 780 Ti is daft.
The market is different now - it's the first time for a while there's been a node size change and also 7 series and 9 series wont support DX12 as well as the new cards will, and this last happened from Dx10 to 11.
The new cards bring additional good features too.

With of these changes I reckon the 28nm gen will be hit harder on the second hand values. It'll partly depend on where a 1070 slots in. If it's as fast as a 980ti for £370, where does that put new and second hand 980Ti prices? Much lower. A £200 or lower 1 year old or newer 980 Ti will be entirely feasible as people (intelligent ones :) ) woud rather spend more to get the new tech, a new card and new features.
780Ti was 28nm and DX11, as is the 9 series, hence held their value better IMO.
It's not just about comparing performance but technology and features.

lol at the many salty tears in here :D

I personally can't wait and as soon as non ref cards are available, I will be buying.

Lol. That is what I see also. So much crying over what was obviously coming, yet they could not see it and now feeling bad.

Happened to the 780Ti too, and that did not even have a die shrink :p

That's okay. You probably have not been following the threads the past 24 hours :D

Nah, I went to Holland yesterday on a **** up. Had a quick read this morning heavily hung over and seeing some of the comments made my hangover better :D

I bet you both get yours before me.:D

Waiting for the big guns or you getting a 1080 or 2?

Well it looks about ~22% to me for TitanX -> 1080 but here are the slides:

They show a monster increase over a 960 but of course these are nvidia slides :p

I was not going to bother with the 1080 but then I read 2100mhz and suddenly things became very interesting.

I will probably get a couple of non ref ones from EVGA.

Haha. Nice :)

I will either pick up a Polaris or a 1070 until big guns arrive. Then sell up a few weeks before release and pick up either vega or big pascal. Double the fun that way.

As you know, if you sell at the right time, there is very little loss made anyway :D

I am going to hang on to my TX now and do some comparison vids. I wanted to sell but missed the boat on that but not fussed either. And yer, 2100Mhz is wow land!

Polaris needs some leaks now.

Doubtful, not WC'ing this time so will be waiting for a Egva FTW or the like.

Fair. I still haven't put my TX on the block I have and just can't be bothered to wc anymore either. EVGA FTW have always been pretty decent.

If you can avoid putting a waterblock on your 1080 you can sell it before the full fat cards launch and have a cheap upgrade. This is what I may do if I go for the 1080.

I thought you sold your TX? Damn.

Completely agree Polaris needs leeks asap.

Have you considered a predator 360? It seems to take all the hassle out of watercooling.
