** The Official Nvidia GeForce 'Pascal' Thread - for general gossip and discussions **

I would agree with the ~22%

According to the top graph it looks like gaming perf. of Titan X is sitting at around 3.6 and the 1080 is around 4.4

And I would say the VR graph has the Titan X at ~3.8 and the 1080 at 7. That would represent a ~84% increase.

that "22%" could be hugely more or hugely less depending on clockspeeds tho
only ppl to know this are those lucky enough to have a 1080 right now :)

the news zotac's card..
Engine Clock Base: 1607 MHz
Boost: 1733 MHz

thats a way off 2000+ claimed by nvidia
we have no idea what clockspeeds them graphs are based on or if they represent reality at all lol

That isn't exactly how the 2nd hand market works. You can't just see a newer product with similar performance levels and then knock a percentage off that price for sake of being 2nd hand. There are many people who already own 980Ti's and would like another 1 to SLI with, but have been put off by the high price. The increase in availability of new Ti's (at reduced prices due to being EOL) and people selling theres will mean there is still a fairly decent market for used 980Ti's. They wont be going for £150 any time soon! I would say £250-£300 will be the used price over the next 6 or so months.
Yea, people are really having some short-sighted knee jerk reactions about used 980Ti prices. I'd say £300 will probably be a fairly common 'baseline' price for them. Bit less on particularly good deals.

Also gotta remember we dont know exactly where the 1070 will stand against it. Larger bus width of the 980Ti might actually still give it an advantage here or there.

There is no link that I've heard anything about and I usually stay pretty in-the-know with the VR stuff.

Though I do hear they are working on their own version of it.

I assume the slides showed the 1080 favourably, given it is marketing and trying to sell it. I cannot see them underselling the potential performance increase, put it that way.

the card could be amazing but selling up ur 980ti's for £300 on the basis of them graphs...hell no! lol

TBH, I would make a case for banning those clowns from MM.

How would you do that? Don't see why someone would be banned for putting in a legitimate offer in. I would understand if they were offering something silly like £50 or something like that.

Only people calling for such harsh treatment seem to be hurt 980Ti owners. End of the the day if someone values the card for more, they will put in a higher bid.

When someone puts an asking price of £380 and the first offer asks if £200 is ok - you don't consider that a silly offer?

Yes, perhaps my banning comment wasn't actually justified - but having sold quite a bit of reasonably high-end gear on the MM, it boils my **** when folk try and offer ridiculous amounts. The 1 that really gets me is "cheeky offer of...". If you know it is cheeky, then don't even bother!

:D

the 980 series are now paperweights, expect them to fetch a similar price to a paperweight in about two months time.

you still have time to unload your card to some numpty on fleabay, don't try and flog it on the MM.

Is this a joke and or just trying to incite something lol? No way will a 980 be anything near worthless for ages, not least because it's still an incredibly capable GPU! PLENTY of people have 980's with no intention of splashing out £500 for a 1080, so the option to get another is going to keep the used price of those steady for some time to come. Also, the 980Ti is still a great card, so again, all those who already have one may want to go SLI, or anyone with a 970 who wants a bump but can't afford the new cards will be looking at a second hand Ti. Just look at what 780's are still going for. That said, there are plenty of people on MM who do think like you and will somehow be under the impression they'll be able to get a 980 for £10 in a couple of months. Will. Not. Happen. ;)

That Zotac card is still using the reference cooler design.

So while I'm sure Nvidia picked a great OC'er for their demonstration, it also seems reasonable that once we get proper 3rd party, non-blower coolers and crank up over the normally conservative 'stock' clock, that the sort of gains they've shown will be pretty realistic, if not easily beatable.

Well that's how you get things cheaper in life. It's like buying a car, the buyer starts low and the seller starts high. As a buyer if serious you can start of no where near the price knowing you will be paying much higher than you start off. It's not a sellers market atm and the buyers have every right to show they are not willing to pay anywhere near the price the seller wants. For people selling the cards i would hold tight to see how the pricing on the 1070 turns out and its real world performance. It may just swing things back in there direction. It's a gamble but i don't think they have much to lose now.

Street haggling seems like a really annoying practice to take part in on a select member-based thread for community buying/selling. Put in a reasonable offer or just dont bother.

I also think you're being a bit naive that that they were haggling and not just taking the ****.

Relying on the ignorance of a seller and the extent of his need to sell is quite different to market value of a product. There will always be people who have no idea what their stuff is worth, or do but just want rid asap. I've seen plenty of stuff sell on MM for wayyyy less than it's worth, but that doesn't mean the next guy who comes along has to sell his/her items at the same barrel bottom price, nor should a buyer expect them to.

They might be taking the **** but they might be trying to bag themselves some price drops. Like i say it's not a sellers market atm so buyers have more power than they would usually have. People are saying the 1070 should perform similar and will be priced 300-350. Who in there right mind would jump in and pay £380 for a year old card that's last gen. The only people that would be buying this as people looking to go sli. Even then you could sell your existing 980ti and go 1070 sli for not much outlay.

I understand and agree but is the 980ti still worth what people want for it. I don't think it is if the 1070 is a decent match for it. A 1070 would be brand new and possibly if people wait awhile the offers on a 980ti will be coming as well.

On the other hand, ive had multiple offers around the 350-365 mark, so clearly the 200 offers were completely pointless

Exactly. I suppose everyone views these things differently and it is all relative. If I had a 980Ti and suddenly a card came out that lowered it's value so much, I may not be pleased. But my common sense would no go out the window either.

People need to sometimes look at things from another point of view and then they may see things more clearly.

It's still below asking which is all i was trying to say. People are trying to get your price down by showing you they don't want to pay decent money. I don't think for one minute they are fair offers. I think you done pretty well getting £365 and it helps to have a proven decent card on these boards no doubt.

Yes I am quite familiar with the "art" of negotiation. Lowballing £200 for an item the seller has priced at £380 is in no way part of any negotiation. It is downright insulting!

And no, I am not some sort of butthurt 980Ti owner worried about 2nd hand values. I have no intention of selling my Ti as it is utterly perfect for my usage at this time.

Its when people try haggling from 46.50 and say '45 works better for me' even worse when they have a £3000 spec in their signature.

i dont think they picked any card, i think they just made a graph that looks good :)
i guess what you can take from it is "nvidia say this card is faster!"
