** The Official Nvidia GeForce 'Pascal' Thread - for general gossip and discussions **

That would make more sense, if it is at 2.5Ghz eg. the score actually makes sense with the overclock, but why does it say 2.1Ghz?

The numbers the guy posted are for the 1080 at 2.5ghz, the videocards one ran the card at 2.1ghz and have lower scores in comparison. Those numbers makes it around 40-45% over the stock titan x

Current guess is 2017 Q1.

But if rumours are to be believed and AMD release Vega early in October likely smashing the 1080, then we may see it come out prematurely, albeit at a very high price with limited stock.

Sadly, it's very unlikely that any AMD product, CPU or GPU, will smash anything. Just look at their most recent launches - Fiji was a complete failure, Bulldozer/Piledriver was terrible.

I doubt it too, but companies can turn things around. I remember it wasn't too many years ago when nVidia were playing catchup and people were writing them off on their ability to do so.

or Althon Xp vs P3?

or Core 2 duo vs Althon 64?

come backs do happen hope AMD do it soon...

Hmm well the 2.1Ghz overclock scores do not look right, something like 13% overclock with a 25% increase in score?!?!? Unless something else like memory was overclocked and the stock score was less than 1860mhz...

If they will be capable of beating a 1.5Ghz 980ti by 45% then that is amazing.

But its not difficult to make up numbers and post them on a forum.... look...

GTX 1080 Overclocked 2.7Ghz - Firestrike extreme - 15,275 Graphics points...

So we will see in only 48 hours if all this is BS or if it is true!

So you recon that AMD's big chip Vega won't be able to smash Nvidia's mid size chip that is the 1080 then is it?

Its GFX kid again...

Lol. Mate, what is your problem with me?

So you also think that AMD's big chip Vega won't be able to smash Nvidia's mid size chip that is the 1080 then?

I don't see what was so wrong with my comment that you have to single me out again.

What does everyone else think, is my comment not a fair assumption to make or is this Nirk fella just trying to be a ****?

It is all speculation and I really hope Vega does beat the 1080 and NVidia's big chip comes out also. Progression for both is good but let's not get too far ahead and see what is what come the 17th :)

Ohhh and careful with the insults guys, no need for that at all GFX Kid :(

lol just you keep saying things as 100% fact when you (or anyone else except people who work at AMD / Nvidia) have no clue. You said the 980ti will definitely tank to 200 and now the Vega will definitely "smash" 1080, which might be true, but the 1080 does look good and the vega might be another flop who knows, but yes the AMD big chip will probably beat the 1080. If you said "should beat" instead of "SMASHHHHHH" .... But the polaris looks like it only clocks to about 1.5ghz and the 1080 is looking like it should easily get over 2ghz

Fair enough gregster. Though I did ask if he was being a ****, never said he was if that helps :D

This is why I used the word "LIKELY"! Maybe you conveniently missed that?

As for the 980Ti price, well done for bring that up again. That was my opinion and not only mine may I add, many others said it, yet you are singling me out for some reason

Now you are accusing me of saying things as 100% fact when I said "likely", which makes me laugh as I have seen you do this myself. Let me quote you a recent one:

I will just settle all this discussion with a few words....

3440x1440 100hz Gsync is THE best gaming monitor available. 34" 3440x1440 is as close to perfect size vs PPI for a monitor as I can think of. Only exception would be a 4k OLED with 3 x top end cards etc. There is really nothing more to say than that!

Look at this comment. Who are you to decide this?

Yet you can make comments like this, no problems, but when I make a educated guess on an AMD big chip "likely" beating Nvidia's medium chip there is a problem? Double standards or what?

I don't think Vega will beat the 1080, as if Polaris is only 390 performance (as rumoured), then Vegas not going to be that much faster, as the top cards are never a massive, massive increase in performance over the next card down in the stack.

Yes ok no need to get upset about it, but 3440x1440 100hz gsync IS the best so I am allowed to say that

But just saying for example :

Fury X - 4096 cores, HBM memory

Vega - 4096 cores, HBM2 memory

So the vega could either be a much better card or just a fury X with HBM2 and higher clockspeeds.

I admit I have not researched / read much about Vega because I have Gsync so not interested in AMD.

It depends what size they make it. The rumours are that polaris 10 is only around 220mm2, if they suddenly did a 550mm2 Vega then itll be about 2.5x the performance of Polaris, but it will also leave them with a massive gap in their product range

Unless both sides are allowing for being stuck on 14/16nm and not doing proper big chips until the refresh models next year

Fair enough Loads. But I don't see why it would not to be fair. Polaris is a smaller chip vs the 1080 and besides we don't have the Polaris results yet anyway. Vega will likely be a much bigger chip vs Polaris 10. It will have HBM2 and it should not have a problem beating 1080 which is a medium sized chip.

Hell I am pretty sure Kaapstad has even said that he thinks Vega will not only beat 1080, but even nvidia big chip, aka 1080Ti. He must be completely wrong then? Lol
