** The Official Nvidia GeForce 'Pascal' Thread - for general gossip and discussions **

I wonder how many 980ti sellers (especially the ones who sold theirs for <£400) are feeling this morning? :p

Perhaps this review of the 1080 might settle those people ;)

Sorry but I couldn't resist :p

Certainly going to be interesting seeing some proper reviews though. I expect it to be slightly better than the 980ti overall, will be pretty shocked if it is barely any better.

Great trolling :o

I was just thinking about that today! I remember plugging in my first ever GPU a voodoo card and quake going from 2fps to smooth butter and amazing graphics. It was like the jump from .midi to .mp3. Amazing.

Yes them old skool performance leaps where proper gains no milking involved back then pure milk flood gates wide open
chalk and cheese night and day differences for sure in any glide game.

voodoo magic in your pc box once you placed a voodoo in and got up running your game on glide...

its sad really as we will more than likely never see this kind of leap again but you just never know ...

No I want it to be the same as they said in the presentation :

1.7x 980 in witcher 3

1.8x 980 in ROTR

If that is not the case then Nvidia are lying again.

Did they state the resolution in that presentation?

if 1080p then its probably right

The only way it will happen if a new player comes into the market with a truly new technology. Think the first iphone or the Tesla 3.
It won't come from Nvidia or AMD though that's for sure. They will continue to milk us like the cows we are.

Well the 1080p scores on the 1080 should be similar at 1440p or 3440, it has good memory bandwidth, no reason why it should be good at 1080p but bad at higher res, although the 64rops might make a difference.

It would be cool if we could pre-order today. Regardless of what the reviews say, I will be getting one. I just hope the price is a little respectable and there isn't too much gouging going on.

The only company i could see having the financial backbone and infrastructure to manage it would be intel if they decided to start creating high power gaming graphics cards....but i can't see that happening.

What was that company that tried a few years back? They made some pretty naff things that were around for 6 months then never heard of again?

Im so glad that im going to get 200fps now instead of 144 lol.

Anything over ~80fps is lost on me (I don't play twitch based games). So I have no interest in getting a new GPU until it can play games at 4K, even at moderate settings. I was kinda hoping this card would have made significant improvements here. And although it seems like it has made some improvements, they are just so slight it's not worth it.

EDIT: I have only see one "dodgy" review so far

You need double a 980ti to get 60fps 4k, even the 1080ti probably won't be that, but should be ok at high settings (not very high / ultra)

There are rare times when they release a card with insane gains, like 8800GTX, but I guess they have learned their lesson from this and now drip feed the progress to maximise milkage.
Costs are a LOT higher now than they were before.

It's less about milking consumers(though it is a benefit) and more about maximizing yields on an immature process to reduce costs and increase revenue/profit. Basically, yields would be exceptionally poor on a big die chip right now, and unless they wanted to sell a GP100 card for £2000(which people would throw fits over), they'd never be able to make a good business case for it. So they release the smaller chip cards first with better yields(and a larger market, dont forget) and wait for yields to improve for the big chips so they can release those at a price people will stomach.

One less person I have to battle to get in on the pre-orders :p

I got me some bites captain!

:D :p

I will start reporting your posts if you carry on. Something I don't enjoy but I detest those who revel in peoples misfortunes more so!

imagine if nvidia have lied and the 1080 is barely faster than a 980ti.

dont think thats the case but if people just flogged off their tis cheap to get one some serious rage :p

i still dont think they will be as fast as people expect.

+1 this one.

its worth the upgrade if you are running anything less than 970
