** The Official Nvidia GeForce 'Pascal' Thread - for general gossip and discussions **

Most likely yes.

and people need to stop being so caught up in this founders reference edition stuff as well. We all know that is a stupid.

I will be reserving judgement on the price/performance until we get the custom cards/ custom overclocked boards.

Seems silly comparing a top of the range custom 980Ti to a reference 1080 with a premium 100$ just for Nvidia's titan cooler. Do we base the 970's price and performance on the stupid one OCUK sell with the Titan cooler for £350? No.

So that makes it only 20% faster than a R9 390X or a bit less than a GTX980(the later is know as a very good overclocker too),or around 10% faster than a Fury Nano?

I just get the feeling this year is going to be disappointing for releases from both sides.

At least it is better than nothing I suppose and you get more VRAM and a more a modern feature set.

8800gtx ultra, 680 was the highest that gen even the 780ti had titan above it, the 1080 isn't the highest as 1080ti and titan will follow.

Some said, faster the card you pay more well going on that from 8800gtx ultra every card faster should cost more we be on £2000 to £3000 a card now how stupid is that.

Thats wrong isnt it? The 8800Ultra launched fro $829 which using online inflation calculators is $1117 today.

And the Geforce Ultra was $500 in 2000 so thats $782 now

PS I'm using RPI inflation figures for each year ;)

You know what? People get upset over things they have no control over on a daily basis - does this really come as a surprise to you?

I can understand about world famine...the privatisation of the NHS

But a scabby gfx card ?

Who cares ...no one is forcing anyone to buy em !

The point and next yeart it will be 1500 and next 2000 and 10 years 5000 or more how much before you say enough is enough?.

I'm buying one as it's costing me 150 quid to upgrade...

If it were 2k then I wouldn't buy one...

But 550 is nothing for the fastest gfx card currently.

And if the prices continue to rise inline wit inflation then they will be equally affordable in 10 years as they are now.

I can't see a good reason to buy a Reference card, with it ending up only 10 - 15% faster than a highly clocked 980ti when it itself is overclocked

I'm hoping the aftermarket cards will be able to draw more power, if we aren't seeing 2300 - 400 i'll be disappointed!

Also, 900 Dollars is a little more than 699. Ridiculous.

Looking back, the MSRP of the 980 was £429. This is the replacement and it carries a premium of £170.

There is NO WAY that the partner cards are going to be £500. I can honestly see a Gigabyte G1 Gaming 1080 costing £650.

I hope i'm wrong.

Why do people keep saying prices are going up, they are not. They are fluctuating somewhat but constant price rises are just not happening, its not true. :)
