That's not 100% correct, as wages have not and do not always raise at the rate of inflation, in fact many companies try to use one of the consumer price index % figures to link the wage raise to and normally its the lowest one...

So if the prices raise with overall inflation its more than likely that within that 10 years the market able to afford the cards will drop

The 980 reference was £429. The 1080 Reference is £619. Two years difference.

The 1080 is not a replacement for the 980ti, it replaces the 980.

If the 1080 is £619, how much will the 1080ti cost this time around . . . .£800? and the Titan . . . £1000?

This DOES buck the trend we have seen recently, in that we are not talking about the eventual flagship card here.

But the pricing is nothing new from previous gens...

If you don't realise this you clearly know nothing about gfx PC hardware .

You have been shown and told how cards way back from 2007 cost $830 but you still keep insisting that prices are going up and getting your cheeks parted, so don't buy and move along.

The 1080 price will no doubt settle in the ~£500+ region as per the normal MSRP ($599).

The founders edition is stupid.

It is exactly like this card. £350 for a reference 970 with a titan cooler.

No one bases the 970 price on that. They start at £240 for a custom cooler version.

Back then we had the 8800gt for around £180. The same part is somehow now worth £620. The 8800gt is pretty much the same size as well at 324mm2. This is not inflation it's just madness. There is factors like inflation and dollar/pound but these come no where close to £620.

Those of us who have been round long enough remember what was on offer for much better value and won't accept this as the norm end of story.

Yer, I bought an 8800GT as the Ultra was out of my price range back then. I will save this quote though for future reference, because you and I both know that there will be 1060/70 etc variants coming.

And do realize that there very capable cards that do not cost £500-600+, too.

Save it all you like as the 8800gt was not to far of 8800gtx in performance. Will the 1060/70 be anything like it at most likely double the price. Maybe i should save your comment lol but i am not petty.
