Dude that was a fe card ...
Yep, but it doesnt impress me enough, (sounds a bit like a Shania twain song lol) FE is a card for those silly enough to buy into the hype. I bought my current card on preorder. Im sure you recall i waited to see what furyx was like, (kept an open mind) But glad i got the 980ti. It did cost £579.99 but it was money well spent. Coupled with a 5820k it makes for a very potent gaming system.:)

I sold my 980ti for 375

I'll punt 150 into a 1080 once fe stuff subsides...

Ill keep mine, eventually sell it off. Take the 650ti from my old X58 rig. Use it for a while, buy a 1080ti, bin the X58 setup. Put the loot in the bank.

I'm using a Xeon hex core in my studio PC x58 and it runs protools juicey with hundreds of plugins....

Swings and roundabouts...keep 980 ti wait for 1080ti take a hit on 980ti

Sell 980ti spend 150 punting a 1080... Sell 1080 for less loss get 1080ti.

:p

You'll probably lose more with the second method. Even when the 1080Ti is released the 980Ti will still get decent second hand prices.
Meanwhile you'll have lost £150 on your previous 980Ti along with the extra loss selling the 1080.

But then again you get a 1080 for 6-12 months before the Ti is released,
So that may be worth it for you.

My X58 rig is barely used now, no point in putting a xeon into it. Im gonna sell of all my unused pc kit and plough it into a luxury watch, (my latest addiction).:)

I am not sure he would though. As long as he does not overpay for a GTX1080,it will hold its value more than the GTX980TI as newer games make the GTX1080 look better.

Plus what is the worst price the GTX1080 would drop to,if a £550 GTX1080TI is released?? £400 RRP??

The GTX980TI probably will be lucky to see £200 secondhand by then IMHO.

Good time to go sli if you have the right board spacing, and if multi gpu drivers improve. Tbh, both nvidia and amd have been very poor on the mgpu front of late.

According to Anandtech it is more down to the console orientated engines used, which implement techniques which don't scale well to multiple GPUs.

Why do you think AMD and Nvidia are going on about VR?? It actually has potential to work well with it.

I'm thinking new shiney punt for 150 ...ill play along...

Gfx card roulette is always engaging but ultimately we all lose.:p

I'm not convinced with sli...I think it's a Ball ache at driver level for developers...

That why it's inconsistent...

Yes if you have a 980ti now and spend another 375 on a 980ti it's still 750 quids worth of gfx power...

I thought long and hard about sli and I just Cba with it...

If I can dodge a bullet and get next gen for 150 large I'll be happy...

Waiting about and then selling my 980ti for 200 like a 780ti I find boring,
