*****The OFFICIAL OCUK 2010/2011 Fantasy Football League*****

Following his blinder against Chelsea I couldn't leave Valencia out so he's in Petrov & Essien have had to make way

Will have to wait and see with Chamakh long term, but he looks set to play against Liverpool with Cesc and RVP out. Hernandez too might start the first game given that Rooney is short of fitness, but there's no way he'll be playing week-in-week out unless United pick up a couple of injuries.

I'm surprised you picked Essien to begin with Tom, I've only been playing FF for a couple of seasons, and he's been injured a lot in the last two seasons, but does Essien score that many points? I assumed he'd not be great for FF, but that wasn't based on any prior knowledge...

Not entirely sure but Wenger has said both RvP and Cesc wont be ready in time for the Liverpool game. The Arsenal website hasnt updated injurie news for ages now.

TBH Defensive midfielders don't score a lot of points. A Good FF team comprises:

Good keeper but one that will also make a lot of saves. Get a top class keeper behind a rubbish defence and you're golden.

Defenders: Really you want 'wingbacks', guys that will pop crosses in and get forward and get you the odd goal from corners and loads of assists. At the risk of making him very expensive, Gareth Bale and Ashley Cole get forward a lot for example.

Centre backs you want ones that score from set pieces and keep a few clean sheets. Anyone that gets up for headers or likes to go forward occassionally will be good. Daniel Agger from liverpool likes to roam forward and isn't afraid of trying to shoot.

Midfield you want ones that score and lay on assists. There's a reason Gerrard and Lampard are so expensive. They both score and assist in goals. IMO (Strictly IMO!) they're too expensive and you need to comprimise elsewhere to fit them in. Last thing you need is Chelsea and Liverpool to draw 0-0 and other players getting boatloads of points. Wingers are good for assists and the odd Goal. Adam Johnson for example played a blinding 5 months for Man City and Gareth Bale is down as a midfielder. Giovanni Dos Santos has been fantastic pre season for Spurs too.

Obviously your main Strikers will be ones that can get you 20 goals a season but there's also the possibility that one or both may become injured. This is often where you'll find someone who costs much less then your main two but can still weigh in with 10 goals and assists.

Subs are often overlooked. These are the guys that can make or break your season. You DON'T want no names that won't even get a game for their club. Nothing's worse than seeing you use all your subs only to get zero points! Remember that playing, say, Drogba against Liverpool when you have a Liverpool defender and Pepe Reina isn't such a good idea as points gained via Drogba can be halved by minus points from your other players. Watch the fixture lists. If Liverpool are playing Blackpool and it's Man U Chelsea the same weekend, get some Liverpool players in. You can use 1 transfer a week without penalty too!

It's inevitable that some teams will miss games some weeks and end up playing twice in a week later in the season. This is where you can make shedloads of points and catch up those in front of you. Watch out for this, especially over the Christmas and new year period. Some teams may play 4 times in two weeks and keep an eye out for teams playing during the week as you may not realise as others may be playing in CL or Europa league matches. Another good opportunity to sub those who are playing and remove those playing in Europe!

Both out? Nothing on their website.

It was mentioned on their site the other day. IIRC it was in the match report for their last friendly; something about neither were involved as they've only just returned to pre-season and neither will travel with the squad to Anfield.

Hopefully Torres and Kuyt have got a chance to be involved though (I'm sure Reina will).

could all be gamesmanship of course, it's a favourite trick of Fergie's to say his players are unavailable in the week preceding a big game, so I'd not be surprised to see AW try it too, but there's no sense taking the risk, especially in the first game week when you can make unlimited transfers.

I personally try to avoid picking players playing other big clubs whenever poss, so I wasn't gonna have Cesc in this week anyhow

Another Good buy will Be Ireland. For £6.5m will be a bargain. If he goes to Villa then i can see him doing well there providing he plays every game.

;)
