Hhhmm I am tempted to use a wild card. I have a good team but need to sacrifice 8-12 points for the next few weeks to get the desired team.

What's wrong with that? We've only had one game, hardly enough to throw out Gerrard especially considering a relatively difficult start in comparison to the higher scorers this week. And yes, Rooney needs to find his form (or give way to a cheaper option), but certainly not worth using a wildcard over!

I've got Rooney and had two players who didn't even start (Insua and N'Zogbia), but I'm only going to make one change before next week - it's just not worth losing the points over.

Each to their own buddy. I had N'Zogbia as well, and Anelka and a few others who didn't start. Its my choice and I am very happy with the team I have now. Plus I still have another wildcard to use later on in the season :)

Well Anelka scored 5pts which isn't too shabby for a striker costing well under £10m, as did Rooney. Only two strikers in the whole thing got more than 7pts. Their next matches are against the might of Wigan and Fulham so it seems a bit premature to be discarding them just yet!

As you say, each to their own, but to me the idea of playing your wildcard before you've even done any 'normal' transfers is pretty outlandish (barring some kind of freak set of injuries/suspensions). Presumably most people when picking their initial squad have some sort of plan mapped out for the first couple of weeks of the season at least so the idea of changing it all a couple of days in doesn't come into it!
 
Was whining a few posts back about it not auto subbing. Well it seems it still does and I picked up a nice 72 points for the week :D

17th is a solid start! Tinkered a little but looking forward to the next gameweek

edit: Need an 11th man from my bench. Carroll for the Toon against Villa? Or Adam for Blackpool against Arsenal? Cant decide :p probably end up going Carroll but either will be the wrong choice.

edit edit: Anyone know why Boateng didnt play for MC against Spurs and will he be playing this weekend?
 
Anyone know what's up with value changes?

On the transfers page, N'Zogbia is showing as 5.9 in my team inline with the selections on the right, but Malouda is showing as 9.5 on the pitch but 9.6 at the side.

You paid 9.5 for him, if you want him now it's 9.6. So if you sell him, your 0.1 mil up.
