Anyway it will be interesting to see what happens, but I am nervous about it...

Me too, the g/f works for a travel company selling coach holidays to Europe. Their directors have already started the doom & gloom. If they were real leaders they'd be trying to inspire confidence & keep things calm.

Scotland made the choice to stay with the rest of us, just because they don't like this verdict, doesn't mean they can throw their toys out of the pram and have another referendum.

They should accept it and move on

Except the one of the main arguments used by the union side was EU membership could only be guarenteed by remaining the in the uk.

England chose to leave the EU, Scotland chose to remain. It would be weak if the English who voted to leave started going full dailymail if we decide to leave the UK.

Scotland has every right to reconsider membership in the UK in light of this result.

The smugness of some people is unbearable this morning...

I voted leave but have no smugness in me.

As I said before the vote whatever the vote we have a deeply divided nation, staying in or leaving is not going to fix it.

I hate this class war that seems to be raising its ugly head.

I find it simply unbelievable that no contingency plan appears to have been put in place in the event of a leave vote. These are suppose to be the educated people.

Waiting till October is way too long, we need to get the ball rolling now and start coming up with answers to questions.

Yes absolutely. I'd love to see the leadership give us some reassurances and calm about this. It is time for strong leadership. I'm disappointed Cameron backed down, I'm not DC fan, at all, but at least stand up and earn your keep as a leader!

While it's not the result I wanted, I'll be fine.

I can get duel citizenship with Ireland to retain the individual benefits, in a profession that's likely to see a significant pay rise a result of increased demand/reduced availability of staff & unlikely to feel any of the the negative impact of the impending public sector cuts.

I'm just laughing at the turkeys voting for Christmas.

I think the majority of voters on both sides voted out of genuinely wanting the best for the country. it wasn't a case of "****ing immigrants drinking all our beer""

Think it's shown just how poor a leader he really is. I think a lot of the leave votes are actually a protest against him.

He can't - how can he lead the country into a place he himself doesn't want to take it? That's not good for anyone. He's done the right thing falling on his sword.

Talk about wanting your cake AND eating it too!

You're telling me Britain has no contingency plan?

Surely people wouldn't vote leave if there was nothing in plan to have reassurances that Britain would be better off or at least not worse off?

I think a lot of Leavers voted to stick the middle finger up to the Government.

For which I can't blame them at all. Many people have been screwed by this gov't.

I'm just sad at what has resulted.

TTIP? Obviously the UK won't be part of it if/when it's agreed. It's a proposed agreement between the EU and the USA.

To be pedantic - correct. But do you seriously think the US won't pursue a similar type agreement with the UK now? And it's far more likely to be passed in full as the US want without the EU to water it down/veto it.

You mean like it was last night ;)

Salt.

At least there's no conspiracy theories this morning centred around the use of pencils.

But smugness is unbearable either way. This was a referendum with no right or wrong answer. Smugness is totally unjustified. Leaving could work out well, or it could be a complete disaster. Taking comfort in being on the side of the majority is largely foolish.
