You can always quit science and get an office job like everyone else does when the wind blows sideways.

Failing that, work in Steel ...it'll come back soon, for awhile.

Or you can get over yourself and realise that Science is bigger than any nation or government and carry on.

Science breakthroughs happened when people threw turds out of their window in a bucket ffs.

Dont be such a *****

Quit my role in theoretical astrophysics research and go to work in the steel industry? What kind of logic is that?!

Could it go as far as civil war?

No it will be the second PM the Queen has sacked. The government are not going to go against the vote. They need to present a case to remain and that can only be done by the people that led the leave campaign. This is the option that could be taken after the negotiations.

Jesus, full on flash back to the IndyRef, the backlash from that made me embarrassed to call myself Scottish.
At the moment there is so much bile, hatred, massive over reaction, people on the internet acting like we have just pushed the kill switch on a puppy/kitten sanctuary, there are more dummys and toys on the floor than there were remain voters.

I've spent the day reading watching and listening to people so much spout absolute crap.
this pretty much sums up my feeling at the moment.

The truth of the matter is, we are moving into unknown territory, nobody knows how the pieces will settle, of course there is going to be a little financial nerves in the markets, I fully expect there to be little noticeable change when it all calms down.

Once thing to think about. Change is good, change is a force that inspires the best in us, forces us to push through and become stronger, embrace the change, lets come out of this better and stronger than we were, we need to stop turning on each other and move forward, the sooner we realise this the better.

Solid post man, good job!

Every day that goes past from now on where we don't submit the formal request to leave is a day closer to a second referendum.

doubt it, though not legally binding they will stick to this one.

why? because most likely pro brexit will be PM (Borris). & EU want rid of us to so they can stabilize the market.

I would happily listen to an improved package from the EU, but I also think there's more chance of me crapping money than that happening.

The EU it seems, would rather just drown than address the problems it has.

Your grandparents and dad probably feel the same way about your 'blinkered' views.
I doubt they're ashamed of you though for holding them.

Well that's the first time I've seen someone try to accuse someone of having blinkered views for refusing to tar an entire group of people with the same brush.

People aren't immune from being called out on disgusting views just because they are old or family.

no.
I don't see any other way forward.
the only way to not go ahead is if Eu came back with a hugely beneficial deal for us. but then that would destroy eu as well. as others would want that deal.

Eu to have any hope in surviving will have to say good by to us and say you can have same deal as Norway, accept it or don't that's the only offer.

the likely out come which ever way it goes is a large recession for the whole of Europe.

The EURO cant survive that again, the South will have to suffer to the point of social acrimony... more physical in Greece though.

again, oh dear lord.
we don't and never have sent 350million a week rebate comes of before we even send the money, the figure was an utter lie.
also just ignore the main two points.

again you will not be able to spend a single penny of that on what you want. in all likelihood you will have to find even more money.

so nice that even after farage has said it was untrue, so many still believe the figure,

The UK pays more to the EU than it receives in EU funding. But how are the funds that are received, spent in the UK?

EU money, both here and in the rest of the EU, is spent according to the Union's spending priorities. The biggest two areas are agriculture and development.

In 2014, the UK received a total of 6.984bn euros (£5.5bn) of EU money or around 5% of the overall payments the EU made in that year.

By far the largest share of the money, 56.6%, went to agriculture, followed by 25% invested into projects benefitting poorer areas and 15% to research, education and innovation.

Source, reality check: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36561084

The £350m a week figure includes the rebate, money we never actually send to the EU. Of the remaining £276m a week which we send to the EU, we receive a certain percentage back in subsidies and to fund regional projects. When you take into account everything we receive, our contribution to the EU is £161m a week.

Freedom of moment of people is fine if they have a job offer. I just don't get why the EU are so stubborn on this.

I know, it's a ridiculous idea.

But if the science isn't your main focus, then why bother?

Do you really think they will remove the funding of something so important?

The national lottery pays for art projects that involve putting red glass orbs on shelves. Why do you think the nation will turn its back on discovery?

It won't.

So the farmers strongly supported Brexit despite being told there was no Plan B to replace their subsidies and are now worried about it?

Isn't that a bit like Cornwall receiving over £1bn from the EU, yet still overwhelmingly voting Brexit and today demanding the UK government replaces that money?

Guess they're all going to have to "deal with it" as Brexit supporters seem to like telling the other 48% who aren't happy where all this is heading.
