my crystal ball tells me that once a new PM is sworn in, he/she will call a general election before invoking article 50, then one of their campaign pleges will be to not invoke article 50 and stay im the EU :o
could they do that or would the EU just kick us out in 2 years anyway?

For me and a lot of others, I think that would indicate the end of the democratic processes in our country and I think would trigger revolt.

delusional, we've got the result it is now up to Parliament to digest it - there won't be a second referendum and we will be leaving the EU - that much is abundantly clear

Though given the size of the remain vote they probably do need to explore any available options on offer for maintaining close trade links to the EU (while being mindful that free movement was a big issue for leave)

Pointless, the whole premise of the that petition is that the turnout wasn't high enough. A second vote will only have even lower turnout and be even less binding.

None of that sounds unreasonable to me and I would be just as happy to see that implemented as what we have now.

Definitely. I think it's time to sit back, crack open a beer and relax for a while. Clearly the political class is in shock right across Europe and it now seems that the Euro leaders recognise a need for reform. Merkel in particular clearly wants the UK to remain involved. So in the coming months hopefully there will be plenty of constructive talk and I would happily go to the polls again.

it is up to us to invoke article 50... though we are going to leave the EU

Boris has no reason to call a referendum, in fact it would potentially be political suicide

All these people calling for a second vote lol,Seriously why should those 28% of people who did not vote (because they could not be bothered when they had chance) now be given a second chance to vote?

They knew when they had to vote, yet they didn't.

They even got a 2 day extension to register to vote. They can have absolutely no complaints.

I don't think Britain can pull the "ha ha, got you, just joking guys!" routine so you're stuck with it. I can't see the EU allowing that on point of principal as well as precedence.

The people voted and the people have to deal with it.

They should respect the older vote more. They've had lots more life experience and will have a better judgement over what's happening. The older folk may have saved this country from self destruction.

I wish the European wouldwould have bent a little more to uks original immigration demands,

eu already has bent over backwards for us, its stupid.
UK should have woken upto globalisation and the future, rather than looking back with rose tinted glasses at history.
but the population has never been forward thinking, time and again we vote in regressive governments.

They might have deliberately abstained, due to disaffection with the political system or inability to reduce such a complex decision to a simple leave/stay.

I don't mind a second vote, but there will be more salty tears, as the leave vote would rise, people know now that leave can win, betas that gave into the fear will vote leave as they want to be on the winning team for a change, plus the stay puft man didn't destroy the city of London.

As the poster posted above, the onus on the media now is to make leave voters look stupid. If they put the same effort into finding stupid remain voters, we'd get the same net effect.

Majority of people are uninformed however they have a right to vote which is something we all as a society are bought into. Therefore everyone gets a vote, otherwise we move towards an elitist society

All these cretins in power jobs are obviously trying to protect their own interests and will make every effort to disrupt and make this look like a bad decision. However decisions aren't always made for short term gain, you can look to long term too.

All those eejits saying they are going to lose their job in the EU parliament... so what? Do your jobs hold above the net gain of our entire government? You'll get another job for the next couple of years helping negotiate all the deals with other governments. Oh wait, you won't because it isn't brain surgery and you are nothing but a drain on our funds.

Exactly,I dont get what all the fuss is about,I think its just they lost simple as that and they cannot accept it,were out.

Was speaking to some of my "remain" work mates last night and even those have now accepted it so im unsure why others cant.
