Based on the EU's track I would say it's very unlikely to change. Heck, even key remainers started talking about "reform" of the EU during the campaign, which was quickly rubbished by President Juncker. The EU is about what it's always been about - more countries, more powers, more centralisation, less democracy.

It means protecting our freedom and our ability to self determination, something our forefathers fought and died over.

This is democracy in action in the UK, an elected house showing its teeth and power against the executive. By contrast the EU is an elected, unaccountable elite.

No use trying to explain the value of democracy to remainers they can't understand the value of anything you can't spend.

I'm so happy for the fishing industry. That industry will boom.

it will be a slow recovery considering the last fishing boat in bideford set sail the other week. I remember years ago when there were fishing boats lining the quay in bideford, ilfracombe and other areas in the south west.

The EU has controlled us in many ways, being unable to create our own trade agreements with other countries is one.

Yes, because you are part of a collective that has greater bargaining power together - that's the whole point of it. Or do you think as a sole country, with a worsening economy, you will now have greater leverage than as part of the EU?

The EU prohibits manufacturers of bottled drinking water to label their product with anything that would suggest consumption would fight dehydration.

The EU is to blame for people not drinking enough water :p

I'm confident in future trade agreements with the Commonwealth et al. We are now unshackled from mediocrity. Our exports to Europe have been declining for years.

According to the European Commission, over the next ten to 15 years, 90% of world demand will be generated outside Europe. I think we're going to do just fine :)

The EU doesn't and never has "controlled" us.

Negotiating for the best position for your group is not control. unfortunately there are about 500million people in the rest of the EU and 65 million in the UK. Many people will soon learn the powers of collective bargaining...

Canada isn't part of the EU.

If you want to read further into this subject I would suggest looking into the laws the EU have applied to the UK in the past 40 years or so.

That is control.
