This vote has turned nearly half the country into rude, aggressive hypocritical *********. Seriously i'm seeing people on Facebook getting outright insulted by so called 'friends' . Seriously the majority of the remain camp are just disgracing themselves

Nice change of mind there and you were right about the leave camp. Loving the u-turn. :p

I'm stunned that the Leave guys in here don't seem to care about the back peddling. Oh yea we didn't actually means 350m for the NHS and we didn't mean it'd reduce immigration. Never mind lollllllll

What else didn't they mean and why don't you care that they misled you?

Some of us didn't vote to leave based on those facts. I voted to leave based on what I think could possibly happen to the EU in the future and what I think could potentially happen if we'd voted in.

You do realise that leaving could maybe end up being the best thing we ever do for our country and our future generations. I'm not saying this as fact just that thinking with a totally open mind it could be as we simply do not know what will happen over the next 10 to 20 years. There is no expert in the world that can tell you how things will be that far down the line.

I can honestly say though if the vote result had been in I wouldn't be crying over it. That's partly though as I was pretty much on the line and it took a while for me to sway to the leave side. You would seriously think that it is the end of the world going by some of the posts by my friends on FB. I'm anxious but into the unknown it is and i hope the country reunites to forge forward together.

It's not like we had a referendum 5 years ago and are still deciding what to do, it was yesterday morning, it'll happen soon.
True but it's just sad to see everyone destroying each others ideology/beliefs

Probably after someone tells Leave and Bremain what we are going to be getting after two years of talks. Be it EEA, EFTA, custom deal or WTO. Few can let go whilst the country's future is in the air.
At least that will help some of the dust settle

I'm amazed that the "inclusive" leave Remain party is poring forth an amazing amount of vile hatred towards people who have a different opinion.

I look forward to the day when we can talk like calm rational humans rather than screeching wailing headless chickens over this.

The decision is final, whether you agree or not, now we've got to deal with it the best we can and the first thing will be to stop this outright hateful behaviour towards one another.

Fixed that for you. And the remain people are just showing their true colours, especially when they are being Fascist and stating that the referendum should be rerun till they get the result they want.

The 23rd was a true day of democracy for the uk, more democratic than any election for the past twenty years.

I should preface this by stating that I know that the way things were, up until this point, by no means perfect and that I am not as old or experienced as many members of this forum (and indeed, country).

I voted remain as I felt that I'd rather deal with status-quo, as I always have , than choose something which I was even more unsure about. Those who voted, voted what they thought was right and regardless of me not sharing their vote, I understand that.

What has completely winded me is that I had NO idea that SO many people feel the way they do. Again, I'm not actively 'political' and certainly not aware of everything going on elsewhere in the UK and Europe but I am so very surprised as how the referendum has turned out.

Here's hoping that this becomes an opportunity for something different but positive in the long-term for future generations.

To be honest, i think the leave side would have turned around and been: 'okay fair enough, the country stays, but we warned you etc.'

Then the remain side would have still belittle the leavers but with less vitriol as they are now.

Leavers would have been disappointed and a little miffed but we would have carried on like any other day of being in the EU. It was just the point that the peoploe calling themselves the 'educated' are showing their true colours now.

To be honest I think that's pretty naive, maybe bordering on delusional.

I've seen things from fellow Remainers that I don't like. I think the idea of a 2nd referendum is a completely crazy idea and I haven't had a go at anyone here or on social media (even if I have pointed out various fallacies to people).

That said, even though I'm staying rational and actually dislike things being said by the Remain camp, the leave camp would have been far, far worse. There would've been all sorts of effluent flying all over. Fix, establishment, blahblahblah. That sort of stuff started before the results came out! Don't forget your pen etc.

I'd love to agree with you, but I very much doubt that would be the case. Social media and an event like this just bring the worst out in people

Yes, a few would be very vocal, but far fewer than we are seeing right now with the remain side.

It is a matter that people just consider the satus quo and would carry on as usual, but its a change of the status quo that has the Remain side ruffled.

Do any Remain voters actually think there are some positives to leaving the EU? Surely you can't think it's all negative?

I have one, possibly a big one.

That the UK public now understand that politics can achieve stuff, that if they engage they can better their position. Hopefully people will become more involved in grass roots politics as a way of improving their lot rather than passively be told what to do.

When will we start talking about moving on as opposed to dwelling on the past? It's all getting a bit depressing now :(

Well feel free to crack on and start that conversation, the impetus is with the leave campaign now to tell us what the plan is.

They've got the result, time to get on and do something positive with it rather than the constant stream of "you lost, get over it" gloating.

Sadly I fear half the campaign feel like the job is already done as their interest only extended as far as sticking two fingers up at the EU and "getting our country back".

Just seen the sun headline that euro MPs are plotting to secretly leave us in the eu trade market despite the country voting that we want to leave.

Sorry did I miss something? Did we not want to trade with the eu anymore?
