***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

So they aren't gifts for your son, they are just leant to him until you decide you want to sell them on for a profit?

They are his, when like other kids he grows out of them some of them might make a tidy profit. Why does keeping the boxes mean they are not for him, rather than protecting an investment that might buy him a car or a deposit for a house?

Or he might love it all so much he never wants to part with it. For the sake of keeping boxes in a loft what's the big deal? He actually plays with it rather than having it sat on a shelf so it might be worthless anyway.

Up in my loft is my 1984 and 85 subutteo teams boxed and boxes of 1990s 1:18 f1 cars I forgot I even had until having a de-clutter session. I keep the boxes don't see the issue. People are different I find grown men building sets and displaying them very odd, Star Wars bed set odd but we all like different things.
:)

We keep boxes for all his toys it helps when he grows out of them to maximise the return on local facebook sale sites and he gets the money to invest in new toys. I find it better than car boot sales.

Ah if your letting him sell them on that's less mean. I had visions of "daddy wants a Porsche son, so I'm selling all your Lego" :p.

I dont have the boxes for any of my Lego, which includes some large sets and some potentially sought after Ideas sets. I have mentally depreciated them to £0 and plan on keeping them forever. If I do ever get rid it will either be giving them away or selling as a bag of bricks.

Same story with my diecast models. If people think Lego is expensive they should look at how much diecast now costs ! At least Lego does stuff.

Yeah they will be his to do with as he pleases, I had literally every single Star wars figure and some extremely rare or even incredibly limited, also just about every ship made by parker and kenner. My parents car booted the lot for about £50 in the mid to late 80's.

I won't be making that same mistake. Forgetting the value I wish I'd had them to pass on, my son would have loved them. I doubt we will see that level of ships and figures again that's affordable to collect them all like in the 80's.

I need to look into my diecasts, they have been in the loft for 12+ years now so I doubt I will ever display them again.

I had to force myself to stop collecting the minifigs. Ive deliberately packed away the ones I have. I have a compulsive streak that means I wanted to collect all of them from every series, but realized it would ruin me!

I only need the Lego movie n team GB sets.

Not really interested in the other minifigures.

Picked up the vw camper van today.

Gonna get the mini in a few weeks time.

I came late to minifigures, only have The Simpsons and Series 11, 12 and now 13.

Previous ones would be nice to have retrospectively, but would cost too much now to collect :o

mates rates..

You know the seller? :)
Tell me the address I will slip my son through the cat flap ;)

Scrub that he would never come out again! I thought my son had a lot, but that guy has multiple versions of figures. I only need Qui gon and Pong Krell now to finish the jedi.

Krell is causing me headaches. Trying to get him for under a tenner is hard, unless I miss an auction end then it goes for about £6 :D Or the Z95 is £23 but he has no interest in the ship, just Krell. :D

Ah, crap, found another set for £2 more than the last, should I just get it over done with, then Bart can play with Millhouse and get bullied by Nelson and Homer can run over Mr Burns with his car?

:D
