Currently got money burning a hole in my pocket. :o

Not sure whether to get the Red Five X-Wing now as it seems fairly scarce, or wait until May when the new Tie Fighter is out.

Is the current X-Wing likely to get a suitable replacement in the future with the new films coming out?

X Wings appear in the trailer for Ep 7, but I'd expect a new "play set" model (<£50) rather than a Red 5 replacement.

I'm concerned the new Millennium Falcon model may be a small and not very detailed play set too :(

That Tie doesn't look much better than the £45 one. The Xwing has much more about it for a UCS model of similar cost.

Looking at the lists for the new film sets I'd say the 75102 - “Hero Starfighter”- £69.99 will be the new xwing and the hero vehicle at £129 will be the new falcon.

Forgot we had a pajama day last week to try to clear the rest of his sets.

We did the ones pictured, plus the new shadow trooper set, Ezra speeder set which actually is quite good and a vast improvement on the old speeder bikes, Doc Oc Heist set, Captain America V hydra set, Lego Castle Getaway set and a Vulture droid set. :D

That clears the way to start on the Death Star :) I think next week I'm going to try to line up his minifigures I dread to think how many there now are.

Mos Eisley is hugely dissapointing, the cantina might as well stay in the box, the speeder is excellent as is the dewback but the cantina is tiny and useless, should have the bartender and patron that get's his arm cut off for the retail price. AT-AP is superb, really nice toy.

Is that the retired 9492 that you are talking about? The new one seems much bigger and detailed in the cockpit area from a quick look?

I'd love both ideally, but don't want to miss out on R5 if it's eventually going to be discontinued. Lego store itself seems the only place to get it legitimately new, which seems like an indication it will be on it's way out soon? The new TIE will obviously be around for longer.

That's great :) Where'd you get the designs from?

A mixture of ripping other peoples models and Googling 8-bit lego for ideas :o

It's pretty easy to recreate something this simple in LDD once you have a reference.

Yeah I just don't see it personally as being that great a looking model, I'd definitely get the R5 over that. You can then wait and see on the tie when you see one in store :)

Hard to tell with the UCS stuff, after all the death star was 2008 and the SSD was 2011. R5 is quite a popular model, I imagine it's going to be around for a while yet.

Ooo I hadn't noticed that the Star Wars sets had been given code names. Yeah its a safe bet that the £130 set will be the Falcon considering that's the price point of the previous one, and there isn't a Falcon currently on sale.

Just bagged a BNIB Red Five for £150 :)

I'll worry about the TIE later in the year, maybe the next Xmas present to myself :p

Yeah if the new one is more sturdy than the old one I will box the old one up and get the new one. Just about every time my son moves the falcon I hear "Daaaad". One of my workmates glued his together, as much as I frown upon that practice I can see why he did it with the falcon :D We are forever rebuilding it. Last week the whole backend fell off!

Yeah I would do that. You have plenty of time and they will look better together anyway ;)
