so, thought i would spend a bit of time sorting through my lego, spent just over two days on and off, still got a small pile left, need to get it through the washing machine though and freshen it up, then ill sort it out into more pots, need to dig out all my manuals next.

I think I recognise the base plate on the far left (grey), is that from the Fire and Rescue Station? Two fire engine garages either side with slidey blue doors and the middle bit had the control room and a helipad on one side? That was awesome.

Need to start getting a load moreI am sure there is an expert here who would know this. I have got my lad the Lego City Train (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lego-City-7...JCQ8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354107605&sr=8-1) for Xmas and I was wondering realistically how many extra packs of the flexible tracks I would need to get if indeed I do need anymore (as I've spent far too much on him already and am trying to teach him some moderation!). If anyone knows whether 1 pack would be enough I would be appreciative.

Order another couple near the time or something, and take it back if its not needed? Keep it out the way, and only bring it out if needed..

This is how it's usually done.
Sorting by colour is a bad idea though, makes it really hard to find what you're looking for as the shapes don't stand out so well.
Sort by shape instead and picking out the right colour is trivial.
