***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

Looking closely I think I'd have to change out all of those exposed blue 3L friction pins. They're quite jarring against the green.

Thankfully I just built a MK Mercedes that came with a whole load of Black , Grey, DB Grey , Red and even White 3L and 2L friction pins (bought it for exactly that reason)

Why Lego persist in having them only in Blue is just odd. And annoying.

Ugh. I hate those too.
Quite obvious on the porsche too

Ah yeah. The Defender. I know what you mean there. Boring to build and an ill designed gearbox , yet again, that didn't work properly.

Bought it on release, built it and flogged it immediately. Not a keeper.

Had another look at the new Lambo today and I don't think I'll bother until it hits sub £200. Why?

The Chiron released at £330 in June 2018 and was £249 by Black Friday later that year (£212 if you bought one off Ebay with their 15% off anything Black Friday deal at the time - I have to say, I was tempted)

By December 2018 it was £214 on Amazon and then by November 2109 it eventually dropped to £175 (OK twas a deal of the day and my trigger finger almost got pulled - but it's a butt ugly car - and I just couldn't do it )

Yeah Covid has changed a few parameters and people are paying way over the odds for anything to keep themselves sane but. I'm sticking to plan A.

Sub £200. Next year.

There's a real best time to buy these expensive lego set .

Once a lego set rrp 350 gets to 200-250 you really can't go wrong. The price will never be lower.

I always buy mine on ebay for brand new auctions at these times. Sometimes you get a Gem!

For example of ebay, the chiron is now 270 minimum. When it was 50 lower many times

Guys, where is the best place to sell Lego?

I have a few sets that I could sell to increase my house deposit, bought them on a whim. The Merc Arocs 42043 truck, Crawler Crane 42042, Pet Store 10218, UCS Red 5 X-wing, Porsche GT3, VW Beetle, and I think an architectural one, Villa Savoye. All unopened boxed.

looking online, some of these prices are kinda amazing, Villa Savoye is £250?! :D

Some may disagree but I think Lego are balling it lately. Some of the new stuff is fantastic. Still got to finish my pirates of barracuda bay. Such a fun build I don’t want it to end. It is actually a big boys version of that ship in a way.

Glad you're happy with the quality in that genre but as far as Technic goes Lego have completely lost the plot.

Has anyone seen the reviews of the new £350 flagship Lambo set ?

It's a complete mishmash of varying shades of lime green.

And people are still buying it? Like Lemmings. Regardless?

I'll wait till Mould King does one that has consistent colours. And yes, they do produce kits that are more consistent in colour and quality. Much more so actually. Those black panels that Lego are doing these days are a complete abomination. Cheap and nasty.

Take a look at the roof of the new Lambo. Zigzag line right through the middle of the roof. I hate that effect. It's unacceptable to me. Spending a "lot" of money like that I expect perfection.

They're getting away with it because people are idiots and just buy into it regardless.

The bean counters running Lego are laughing all the way to the bank. In the mean time.

Just ordered the Space Station from Argos :)
Kept holding off but convinced myself after watching the SpaceX launch :p
Will go well with the Saturn V!
Wonder if they’ll do some SpaceX models?

Not sold on these big Technic cars though. Just don’t think Lego lends itself well to curvy and complex shapes like that.
Also, once built a lot of the details and ‘technical’ bits are all hidden.

I bought the Saturn V on day one. And sold it when I read about the varying shades of white in the panels. Couldn't bring myself to build it after that. So I sold it on.

Made a a nice profit on Ebay actually because it went out of stock for ages.

People are people. They'll buy into anything that has a lot of hype going for it.

I bought a few of them as thought it was going to be a popular set!

You bought a few of them? Woah.

You do realise that Lego have introduced an agent that completely ruins sets that are stored and not opened within 6 months yeah?

Business is business right?

What? April Fools was 2 months ago....right?

When did they start doing this?

Got a source for that? :D

Lego would never do that. A big part of their market is collectors
