***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

If anyone is interested, the 'Red Five' X-Wing fighter is available now, seen it today in Liverpool Lego store. It's absolutely epic and almost the same size as the B-Wing, £170 smackers though!

My main problem with Lego at the moment is the obscene prices that they tend to charge for what is merely bits of plastic.

Then there are items that are now collectors pieces. Its disappointing, because I was massively into Lego as a kid, and feel that Lego ought to be played with, not kept in its box, neat and prisctine, ready for resale in a couple of years time at an inflated mark-up.

The Star Wars lego is brilliant, the prices sadden me.

I agree totally, as much as i love this stuff i cant justify 200 notes on some sets, unless it has a ridiculous amount of pieces ala the UCS Milenium Falcon. I still hold out hope that they will re-release that set soon, the ebay prices for it are a joke.

Virtually all the LEGo I have bought over the past 4-6 months was in Tesco, on the clearance counter, so it was all half price or better, its the only way I could justify buying any of it.

Thus my collection is oddly structured, Gandalf arrives, orc forge, and this weekend the battle at weathertop, in Star Wars it is obi wans fighter thing and an old republic fighter thing (asda clearance), and some big robot thing from chimera or ninjago or something that it was too cool to miss when it was halfprice. Two year old daughter loves that robot, heh.

None of these have been online, the weathertop at the weekend was due toa palate of boxes being crushed, we got the best one on the shelf, barely damaged.

I bought my Grandson a Lego City Rocket & Rocket Launcher set a Helicopter & a bike the same colour as mine for his birthday Thursday, His Mum/My daughter got him the Lego city construction set as well.
Lego is Beyond Epic.

Now he's into the decent sets I'll max him out so he has a Lego town of his own then me & him can rock around it in our Lego vehicles. :D

I think I may have overdone it.

Unfortunately I don't think I could justify another X-Wing having already got the original UCS X-Wing ... :( I've also got the UCS Tie Interceptor and Star Destroyer (although I've never had the space to build the latter) and would love to have the UCS Millenium Falcon but couldn't justify it at the time of original release ...

So much want in this thread.

Is that a new F1 car? I've been looking for a decent 'car' model but most seem a bit, I dunno, badly proportioned?

Yeah if you already have the original UCS X-wing, getting the new one would be like money for old rope. Oh and i volunteer to build your Star Destroyer for you! :D

My wife brought home the uruk-hai army today, was down to £22 in our local Tescos.
Assembled and between the Orc Forge, and Gandalf Arrives, and Battle on Weathertop.
-edit using her ipotato as ever

Looking forward to getting the other pieces if I can find a nice discount somewhere.
Shelob Attacks, Battle for Helms Deep and Mines of Moria remain outstanding.
This years sets look interesting, with Tower of Orthanc dominating the horizon, the pirate ship looks excellent also.

I do think that naming a set that comes with four figures as an Uruk-hai army is pushing it a bit!

Uruk-hai squad maybe.

Wife got this for me yesterday, not a lot of pieces but its fun to make, the wings especially :)

Agreed. I have added a few extra black planks to the inner sides of ours to make them a little more robust to my 4 and 8 year olds eager play style!

You just need a X Wing to go with it now. I noticed that JL were selling for £37.50 which is a good price I think for that great set.
