***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

My wife messaged me today so say she had found an offer she could not refuse.
I was expecting shoes or a bag or something, but instead, she managed to find a clearance edition of Jabba's palace. Which was good fun to build, 7 bags, took a couple of hours.
59 quid for the local Tescos, under half price I think.

It is rather easy to love her more each day.

My 7YO son would do his nut looking at this thread. He's so into his Star Wars Lego at the minute and has been banging on about Jabba's palace for ages now.

Of course his current obsession is a good excuse for me to keep my hand in :D Although it's getting to the stage where he can build just about anything himself and doesn't need my interference help any more :(

I've got to say it's the prices that put me off starting to collect anything again.

That's a really nice kit and looks detailed from the pictures but £59 for a bit of plastic seems madness to me, I can't even imagine the full price.

I suppose part of the problem is most Lego sets are licensed now which adds to the price.

I was looking on the brick buying site the other day and even my old favourite pieces, the standard 2x4 were 19p each which seems astronomically expensive for what it is!

Thanks for sharing guys - as a child I had many days/weeks laid up with my legs immobilised in back slabs, due to joint bleeds and Legs was the best for passing the time and taking my mind off the pain...
This thread has brought back so many memories - I may just have to find a late eighties space station (with the clear green plastic) to build. Folks donated my huge collection (15 years worth of Lego gifts for Xmas, Birthday and other occasions) to our local children's hospice, boxes and all.
I hope they bring some poorly kids the same distraction and enjoyment I felt...

700 pieces in the set, mines of moria has 750 and helms deep has about double that.
The full price is 130, and most places selling it for around 90. So She got it about as cheap as it'll be.
Lego is a premium product now, it is very expensive for anything.

Malevolence is quite a fun build, again from the lego star wars range. Sadly the scale doesn't quite work alongside the x-wing etc!
