***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

You can have so much fun with Lego

To be fair to lego... how big would the star destroyer or the death star have to be to make it properly to scale? :p

Yes fine, so let thwm do a ships lego and models lego and a building lego series, so you can have ssd sd and fighters in one scale, then standard scale for the fighters again with figures that time,

They would double their range, and increase sales.

Well I've had an interesting time...I have this coming next week:

Star Wars Sets:
Anakins Y-Wing 8037
Star Destroyer 6211
Sith Infiltrator 7663
V-19 Torrent 7674 + more

Indiana Jones Sets
Jungle Cutter 7676
Fight on the Flying Wing 7683
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 7627

SpongeBob Set 3831 Sandy's Rocket Ride

Lego City Sets
Pizza Resturant Corner & Bus Stop 7641
Yellow Delivery Truck 3221
Tanker Truck 3180
Heavy Hauler 7998

Various police and fire brigade sets including a police station with cars and motorbikes etc

Atlantis - various sets

Power Miners - various sets

That's not a complete list either, it was an eBay job lot and that's what they know is there so there will be a mountain of bricks that could be anything!

Sounds exciting eh? :D

They do a good job, I don't think there's any problem.

Where possible kits are to minifigure scale, but if they get to big they are then scaled to a size that makes they play-with-able. The UCS Millennium Falcon is to minifig scale, so matches the fighters and stuff, but that makes it far to large for normal consumers. So, they make the scale smaller so its manageable.

If they didn't do this large proportions of the ranges would be well out of reach of most consumers.

Knocked this together tonight for my son:

(sorry about the poor quality)

We've bagged a few bargains off that auction site lately by going for items with damaged or missing boxes. Saves paying collectors tax  I always pre build the models first before giving them to him just to check that all the pieces are present. I know I could just count them against the checklist but where's the fun in that? :D

We've been quite lucky so far and only one set has had missing parts (three 4x1 plates, common enough anyway) but the seller bent over backwards to rectify the mistake and sent us a pack of 10!

Best excuse ever really :D

I get to build them and then they're broken down so he can build them too. I think this one will be a bit tricky for him though. He's 7 but has slight problems with his fine motor skills. Lego is helping that as it happens but I reckon I'll be drafted in for some of this.

That's a brilliant Star Destroyer paintguy, was that your own build?

Those are some superb sets Bipolar Kittens! :O

I'm just getting into this now with the big Lego order coming, I may even have to fish out the old sets from the loft to get some practice in!

I'm asking a few questions on here but not getting many responses, I don't think many OCUKers are Legoers.

Do any of you use a dedicated Lego forum? I see a few dotted around, some of them looking easier to navigate than others using phpBB etc.

Any suggestions for one to join?

Yep. As I mentioned above, I put it together to make sure it's complete before I break it up and give it to my lad. Did the same last week with a midi Millennium Falcon and we have a few other pre-owned sets on their way :)

He's pestering me for the SSD but we haven't really got room for one. Or the spare cash to buy it!

I think TheBigCheese was asking if it was a custom design you put together yourself rather than a retail model.

Anyway I believe this is an actual set, 8099 Midi-scale Imperial Star Destroyer.

We know your pain, we all covet the SSD!

Spot on! Cheers. :)

Ahh, sorry, I'm new to this thread so haven't picked up the lingo yet :)

Yes you're correct, it's the 8099 set. I leave the custom builds to my lad - he's got a lot more time on his hands than I have!
