** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

I guess i didnt clarify my question enough as some of you misunderstood.

We are planning to do a "Lets Play" sort of a youtube series where we talking about new games while playing them. I have bought a new mic which is fantastic and picks up my voice very clearly but despite it being set up to only pick up sound in front of it it does still pick up some noise while im typing. This is not a problem for most games; as i can edit it out, but for the ones which require me to press keys while talking it can be a problem.

My current keyboard is quite loud but i know you can get silent keyboards but im not sure which ones you would all reccommend?

This is a great keyboard, and with red switches very quiet. No clicking as with other switch types. A joy to game and type with.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Qpad MK-85 Red LED Pro Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - UK Layout - Red Switches £109.99

Best thing you can do is get a red switch with rubber rings for the keys.

As said earlier, the only way to have a silent keyboard is something with chiclet type keys, as mech keyboards will always make a bit of a racket, even when dampened. If you touch type with dampeners, you will be rather quiet, but still nothing like a chiclet keyboard.

For the red switch type, you will either love or loath them, but I'd personally go for the "stiffer" MX Black switches. The switch will be harder to bottom out than the reds, which bottom out almost instantly due to being so light, and depending on the gaming you do, they may be more suited.

I found a good deal on Cherry MX White aka Clear switches about 40p each all in, am I allowed to post them here?
It's from an electronics shop and not a competitor.

Anyway I'm going to get some to use on the gaming keys, just to try out.

Edit - Sounds softer than the blues I have, but then the sound differs from video to video

I've decided to get my first mechanical keyboard but not sure what one to buy. I like the cherry mx blue and brown switches and I'm looking to spend about the £90 mark. I had seen the Razer Blackwidow 2013 for £88 on Amazon and thought it looked nice but I've also been looking at the Ducky G2 Pro for £80. I don't really play mmos so macro keys aren't a deciding factor. Any other suggestions would be great, thanks in advance :)

At that budget I would strongly suggest the Ducky.

Hey guys just coming back in here to ask, does anyone know of the cheapest full uk keyboard with brown switches currently? I want it as cheap as possible as this will be in addition to my one at home for work. Does therefore not need to be backlit. I am really happy with my QPAD MK-80 so tempted to get another but just not backlit one, so the cheaper one, think it is the MK-50.

Cheers
