** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

Ok after looking around, I think it's between:

1) Cooler Master Quickfire Rapid
2) Ducky DK-9087
3) Filco Majestouch-2

All are available as TKL which is perfect. Assuming all were available with brown or red switches, which one should I go for? The CM is cheaper but it's almost impossible to find in the UK with brown and red.

Filco is the best quality IMO. Ducky is not far behind it. CM is best for the price afaik.

I've noticed another thing amongst the Filco range. What is the difference between tactile and click keyboards? The only thing I can find so far is that the first use brown switches and the latter blue. Is that simply it?

If you're referring to the only UK Filco seller then yes, they use Tactile/Linear/Click to describe the switch color as some people don't understand too much about the different colors.

Ordered my Ducky DK9087 TKL with Red switches and Blue LEDs :) I would have loved the Filco Majestouch 2 but I could only find it in stock with the Blue switches.

If we are talking about the same dealer, I couldn't see any Red switch TKL ones. Another thing that decided it for me with the Ducky was that their function keys also had the track labels printed, which I use often to control my music playing in the background.

They do have TKL.

Ok then :) Duckys are good, hope you enjoy it.

They have one main reseller in the Uk, that's where I got mine from - it has a lot of the variations in, as well as a lot of the switch types. They just use:
Linear - Black
Soft Linear - Red
Tactile - Brown
Clicky - Blue

If you can put up with US layout, you could have a beige with red tkl, or even a full size red in uk layout, etc. But, none have LED!

Just arrived at work. Oh man, I just love the keyclick sound! Can't wait to take it home and see how it performs for games. Already looking at ordering some custom keycaps lol.

Trying to figure out how I can make it so that the media keys work instead of the function keys by default without having to hold the fn key every time. I don't use the function key much to be honest.

Just fitted some WASD dampeners to my Ducky, I used the 40L red ones, it's made a slight difference to the noise but not as much as I'd hoped. The wife keeps complaining about the racket.

I looked too with no luck. Seems like it's locked down, and only some laptop BIOS' have the option to disable it. Let me know if you find any different. :)
