** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

So, I checked out another G710+ and it too had the same issue, just with different keys. This does seem to be a widespread problem, so until it's fixed I'd have to say you should avoid it.

The keyboard I was originally looking at getting, but didn't, was the QPAD MK-85. I decided to get one to try it out so will let you know what I think, especially compared to the G710+ (and the fairly short experience I had with it).

The shop I was getting it from (physical store) don't have the K70, but I'll probably get one if I don't like the QPAD. No effort to try it out.

I have a QPAD-MK85 and I'm not keen on it. I love the black switches.

What I don't like is the odd time a key jams and keeps repeating till u hit it again. Or you get 2 keystrokes with one press. Or type too quickly and it misses letters :(

This is my 2nd after the 1st which was worse.

So, the QPAD is no good. The backlights won't switch off when I turn off the computer, which really is bad. I've gone through every BIOS setting and nothing will fix it. I've got a Razer BlackWidow that I dug out and under identical conditions that works fine.

I think I'm going to get another Logitech G710+ and keep swapping it until I get one with working backlights as I really liked the build of it and really liked the white lights too. The brown switches weren't bad either.

Deary me.

I'm usually lucky so this was bound to happen sooner or later. :D

The QPAD having issues with getting into the BIOS or the backlights staying on seems very common though.

It must be good!

Hoping you have some better luck next time mate :)

Out of the following which one would you choose :)

Steelseries 6gV2 - Black
CM Quickfire TK - Brown
CM Quickfire Rapid - Black/Red
Corsair K60 - Red
Corsair K90 - Red

I tried the K60 at a shop and felt that the keys were too light, now I'm wondering whether Black would be too heavy and whether brown would be more suitable, although I don't have any experience with either.

The K70 is worth the additional money over the K60. The K60 is not a full mech board and it really shows when you press the function keys. Also the K70 reds are much stiffer than the K60 and even my Filco brown for some reason.

Go for the K70 if you can afford the difference.

£120 on a keyboard is just too much for me I'm afraid :(
£30 more and I could get a 2nd hand HD7950 for some crossfire goodness.

Depends how you look at things. Monitors, keyboards, case should outlast things like cpu's, graphic cards... Something you physically use on a day to day basis is more like an investment. If you break it down over the life of the item its usually not that much.

Remember "Buy cheap, buy twice"!

True but that doesn't mean that the cheaper alternatives aren't made with quality, there will always be better quality out there but you got to pay more.

I specifically chose those keyboard because of their price.

My £5 keyboard, and my keyboard that I borrowed from a prebuilt system from years ago, still work fine.

£120 for a keyboard is madness.
