** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

Two of the LED's on my QPAD MK-80 have stopped working which is weird. The 'Fn' key and 'Enter' on the Numpad. Annoying as it's only 3 months out of warranty and are keys I hardly ever use (not that that would make much of a difference).

What to do? Qpad support any good?

QPAD MK-80 died tonight after about 15 months use :( Scroll lock LED is out as well as it not working. The numpad keys have been more and more temperamental in the past few months, now all my cursor keys as well as b/n and forward slash are dead. Guessing it's a goner? Bit gutted really, loved the QPAD but won't be buying another. Anyone else had the same issue?

Still in warranty mate get it sent back

Only one way to find out, i hope there are tho as i have same board ;)

LOL, I posted the above at 14:50 and got a reply from them at 14:51. What are the chances- perhaps they read the forum?

This is what was said:

Hi AzZ,

It seems like your LED soldering has
gotten loose and you would have to de-solder the LED and
replace it with a new one.

If the keyboard is under warranty my
best advice for you is to contact your retailer regarding
the warranty and have the whole keyboard
exchanged.

Anyone done anything like this before? Relatively straight forward I'm guessing but I wouldn't mind some feedback regarding which LED to use etc.

I too have a Filco Majestouch with browns (although, mine's a TKL), and I absolutely adore the thing.

This. Although mine is camouflaged too :p

QPad stuff is based on the iOne keyboards, and there are a few other brands that use the design. They're okay, but for their price, they're not as good as the competition.

I've just ordered the Ducky DK9008G2 Pro blue and grey model with MX browns.

Moving from a Steelseries 7G and I cannot wait for it to arrive!

Partnering with a Roccat Kone pure blue it should also fix my OCD itch

Hey guys, looking into mechanical keyboards and wondering what's the best all in one switch to get?

Would I be right in saying brown would be ideal for every type usage?

Just got the Corsair K60, I actually look forward to gaming sessions just so I can use it which I know is a bit sad :p

Kind of wish I got a keyboard with backlit keys, not that I need to look at the keyboard when typing but think it would just look snazzy.

The red switches make a great deal of noise (which I like) so can't imagine how loud blue switches would have been!

Filco has died. :(

It's a month out of warranty -typical for me - but I have a replacement USB cable on the way which should be the fix for it! Here's hoping.

Really? The things are built like tanks!

I have a Filco too, love it, although in the process of selling it so i can get a tenkeyless version of the same thing.

I've took it apart and nothing seems out of the ordinary. Wiggling the USB cable used to fix it, but now seems to be completely bricked. Hopefully the USB cable ordered fixes it, but i'm going to have a good look at it now.

Just holding the PCB with the keys on shows you how solid - and heavy - these keyboards really are!

Just realised that the TKL version with reds has been discontinued, FFS. Time to look elswhere I guess - maybe a noppo choc mini?

They have the Filco Ninja Majestouch2 TKL with Red switches? I never thought they offered the non-Ninja TKL with RED switches.

Still on the Brown/Ninja/TKL myself although I've ordered a new keyboard from OC'ers today.

The more I read into these the more I want one :o

Settled on either a Red or Brown switch but can't decide on a keyboard, any recommendations for up to £100? Leaning towards a Ducky at the moment.

I realise this question may have been asked a dozen times, so apologies

I've got a Ducky Shine 2 with red switches and it's far and away the best keyboard I've used, although I haven't used any other mechanicals. :p It took a little while to get used to but it's lovely now, and I find it really shines in FPS games as it feels so much more responsive than your standard membrane keyboard.

It's really helped rekindle my love for FPS games, I've also ordered the new version of the fUnc Surface 1030 and will probably pair it with a Mionix Naos 7000, should be quite a nice setup!
