** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

This bad boy looks perfect for me, backlit, tenkeyless, MX Reds. The KBC POKER RACE.

Looks perfect but where do you buy them in the UK?

I'm after a mechanical keyboard now. Strange how things go full circle.

For someone who has never used a mechanical keyboard before, what is the best way to find out if a switch is OK? Can I just buy it and return it if I can't get on with it?

I'm swaying towards MX red switches but it's a lot of money if I don't like it!

Distance Selling Regulation is your friend in this circumstance.

I got to see some of keyboardco's inventory at the LITS several weeks ago, which was quite interesting. I keep telling myself I want a mechanical keyboard, but never actually get around to ordering one. I think I'm just conscious about the noise they blacks can make for those late gaming sessions when the rest of the house is asleep.

There is a website somewhere on the internets that will sell you a bundle bag full of different keyboard switch types and colors. Think it was about £5, but I can't remember the sites name.

I am pretty sure the Zibal 60 is an US layout based on what I seen. It's a shame really because I really like the green backlight on it.
Because of this I have now placed an order for the UK layout Filco Majestouch-2 Cherry brown switches with the red WASD keys.
Hopefully it's the right decision to go with the brown switches over the black ones seeing it will be my first mechanical keyboard.

That's probably the route I'm going down. ;)

If only it could be backlit with blue led's it would be the perfect keyboard.

I too wanted the backlit feature hence why i considered the zibal 60, but after some thinking i think i can manage without and also the monitor screen or desktop lamp will provide enough light. Worse case scenario is that if i still wanted backlit keys i can sell the Filco and buy the zibal 60.
Something tells me though that i won't be doing that. Only problem is that i got to wait around 10 days for stock to arrive in the UK for the UK layout.
I suggest you do the same and take the plunge too

It's about to be released, should be available from the same places you get the Poker etc.

Is this actually called "kbc poker race"? I can't find this exact keyboard anywhere, but I can find the normal kbc pokers with only the number keys and no F keys.

Edit* Ok found it, it's not by kbc it's by KBTalking.

Seems to be some confusion as apparently they'll be two versions, one chinese and one Taiwanese. I'm happy to be proved wrong of course as Google translate can be a bit confusing at times.

Looks awesome though, can't wait.

Yep that's what I'm going to do mate. If something else comes out later on you can always sell the Filco anyway. ;)

That KBTalking thing looks interesting, a lot of people have been asking for a compact form-factor mechanical keyboard with back-lighting for a while now.

Where can I find this keyboard looks perfect! Want to get it with brown switches though.

*edit

Not out yet?

geekhack thread on it

I'm an asian.
I speak to both KBC and KBT personnel over their IM.
As far as i know 75% is KBT race.
Poker leak so far is 65% or 65% with backlit.
Pictures on forums have yet shown a Poker IMO. Every pictures there is a KBT Race.

Poker is known as KBC Poker Race, Not finalised but just a leak.
This information is just to share.

Kbtalking thread loads of pics!

Looks like the brightness is adjustable, WASD only, off. Plus there's dip switches on the back to lock the windows key, swap the shift/Alt etc.

So, I decided in the end to just bite the bullet and buy the SteelSeries 7G. Very good reviews, and good comments from people who use it.

I will report back once I have tested it ;) Nice thing is, it will have that sweeet arm rest with it :D

OK, so the new is out now, QPAD are going to be offering the chance to buy any switch on there new keyboard, the MK-85, read more here. http://www.qpad.com/

I like the look of the MK-85 but am really stuck between browns or reds, primary be using the keyboard for mmo's with fps so medium amount of typing (reason for not blacks to my understanding could be wrong) any advise folks?

One thing i know for sure is no to blues :) way to tappy tappy for me

Cheers

I have been looking at this but not sure of the quality for that sort of money.

I'm definately going for Reds and I spend 9 hours per day typing. I want a nice light action. My K750 failed a week ago so I'm back on my G15 and absolutely hate how heavy the keys feel.
