** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

Don't bother getting it. Firstly, for a £150 keyboard, it doesn't even come with memory to remember the back-light settings. Considering how cheap you can get memory for now-a-days (not to mention the fact it RRPs for £150) the fact it doesn't have any is a bit ridiculous. Secondly, about 30% of the time I boot up the computer, the keyboard isn't 'recognised' and needs to be re-plugged in, bear in mind this doesn't happen to any of my other 3-4 USB devices plugged into the PC 24/7, so is most probably the keyboard. Lastly, the USB hub doesn't function properly. I have a portable scanner, and it scans everything as a completely black PDF; rather weird, I know, it only happens on the two USB on the keyboard, never on the ones on my motherboard/front panel. Someone else I know has similar problems, so I doubt it's a faulty one.

Morale of the story, don't bother with it. It serves me right for buying an overpriced keyboard.

Thanks Luke for the feedback will give that a miss then hehe was manly looking at it for the green led backlight.

Just an update, my Filco majestouch 2 brown switches should arrive today or tomorrow. It has been a long wait but i am really looking forward to it.

Let us know what you think.

Finger on the trigger, just would have preferred reds.

Will do, I just got confirmation that the keyboard is out for delivery and should be with me by the end of the working day.

I also failed to mention that I ordered a set of these o rings dampers from WASD keyboards in the US.

I went for the 40A durometer ones and should get them in about a week or two.

I decided to purchase them and give them a try.
Likewise I will update the thread once I get them.

Had a look about at some reviews and I can not seem to find one negative one apart from the price.

I was in the same situation as yourself and seriously considered the Zibal 60, but after a lot of research I decided to ditch it in favour for the Filco Majestouch 2. I didn't feel the need to pay more for probably an "inferior" keyboard with marketing talk features I would not make the most of, aside from the backlit lights I didn't really see anything on it that would justify the extra £'s over the Filco.

I just wanted a keyboard that would last me for years on end and something I am comfortable with using on a daily basis, that's why I decided on the Filco Majestouch 2 Cherry brown switches because I felt it suited what I will use the keyboard for best (some fps gaming and typing).

Best mechanical keyboard?

Can anyone recommend me a good keyboard for gaming and overall quality? I'm considering the Das Keyboard Professional S but its not backlit, what do you think? Any personal experience ?

Reviews aren't really thorough, and they use it for half a day. In terms of the keys, it's brilliant, in terms of everything else (i.e. my post a couple of pages back) it's pathetic considering the price, given that it doesn't function properly.

@ MrZippo

Does the Filco keyboard come with the wrist rest included?

No it didn't, I wish it did!
You have to purchase it seperately, although it costs £42.30  It is high quality and very comfortable to use if you don't want to fork out for it, you could always get a cheaper gel one.
Also I got to mention that the Filco is heavy weight wise with rubber pads on the bottom and because of this it does not slide around the desk and remains firmly in place.
