** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

Well the cat spilled a whole bottle of beer over my saitek cyborg v7, it still works after having a few days to dry out however, it looks like i've been on a 2 week bender when i type, half the keys dont correspond to the letters coming up on screen, time for a new keyboard, i've decided to go mechanical this time.

i'm currently stuck between these.

Qpad mk80 (blue switches)
Filco Majestouch-2 (Brown or Blue)

Brown or Blue, Brown or Blue, Brown or Blue, Brown or Blue...:(
love the simplicity and "un-inyourfacedness" of the Filco however the bright lights of the MK80 keep drawing me in:o argh what to do, what to do.

i hate choice sometimes, have to make the decision before monday, so plenty of time to think it over at least.

I thought it must be from there. So going by the price you went for the 40A durometer versions. ;)

So you would recommend getting them?

Yes that's right I went for the 40A ones.

If you are like me and bottom out a lot and find it a tad loud then they are worth getting. The o ring dampers do make quite a difference esp. if you bottom out the keys when you are gaming. No more clack clack noise of the plastic hitting the switch.
I still got some left (I left my numpad side unmodded) If you trust me over your details I can mail some out for you to try (about 10ish o rings) so you can see if you like them first before you commit to buying a whole pack.
Just make sure you have a key remover, you don't want to damage your switches.

Well i crumbled i got fed up looking and decided if i didnt buy now i'd talk myself out of spending that amount on a bloody keyboard, so i went for the Filco with Cherry Browns:D hopefully i've made the right decision, cant wait to get my hands on it.
was undecided on red or blue WASD keys so i went with both.:p

1 x UK Filco Majestouch-2, NKR, Tactile Action Keyboard
1 x Filco, Red ESC Keycap for Cherry MX Switches
1 x Filco Red WASD Keys for Cherry MX Switches
1 x Filco Blue WASD Keys for Cherry MX Switches
2 x Blank, Windows Key, Keycap, for Cherry MX Switches

Have you got the key remover tool??? You don't want to end up damaging your switches.

negative, however, looking at the tool i just didnt see the need, it will take 5 minutes to knock something together with bits and bobs i have lying about, it dosnt look like a complicated bit of kit;).

I've heard this duck noise on four seperate occasions now. Again just a second ago. I cannot figure out where it is coming from and it only started since I got my ducky keyboard =/
