** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

grrr, looks like I'm not destined to get a keyboard with the feature set I want. :(

After trying to order a QPad MK-80 with MX Brown's back in feb, only to be told they where out of stock I tried to reorder again this week only to receive an email saying....

Thank you for your order. Sadly we are just currently sold out of MK-80 with the switch and language setup of your choice.

The new delivery which should have arrived to us is delayed from our factory.

Same options as before, upgrade or downgrade to one of the other models, get a refund or wait 'about 2-3 weeks' for stock.

Just a quick heads up regarding them O-rings that I suggested they work great, it just takes out that clickity clack of plastic colliding when you bottom out, whilst still maintaining the same feel.

Recommended!

Why is the Das so under represented in this thread? The Filco and Das are almost inseparable in mechanical keyboard discussion threads on other forums but after reading through most of the thread everyone with a budget of £100+ seems to have bought the Filco without mentioning the Das as a consideration.

As far as I'm aware the only difference is that the Das has a gloss finish whilst the Filco has tenkeyless models. Same build quality, same price, same reputation etc.

I'm trying to decide between the two with blue switches but I'm leaning towards the Das as I'd like a £120 keyboard to look the part as well as feel it.

Bummer. :p

Thinking about ordering a Filco ninja with browns tonight. I really fancy a leopold, but the shipping is a hassle and will most likely cost more.

What are people's thoughts on the Filco? I have tried MX Blues and I didn't like the feel or sound of them- so browns seem like the best idea. :)

I'm thinking of ordering a WASD with an extra set of keys.

Though, I'm really reluctant to spend £150 on a keyboard. I want a mechanical keyboard, but is it really worth £120 more than a good rubber dome keyboard?!

Depends on what you want it for. You can get a very good mech for £65.

Although the DAS looks more bling I would have been cleaning it every 5 seconds as I hate fingerprints!

Also the tenkeyless filco gives me more room to fling the mouse around :D

Been looking to pick up a mech keyboard last few days, out of OcUK stock I've narrowed it down to

Mionix Zibal 60

Steelseries 7G

Qpad MK-85

is there anymore I should be looking at?, main things are backlight, media keys and it being good for allround use with a lot of MMO's

I'm confused... I measured the 'stem' of one of my keys yesterday and it's 5, maybe 6, mm. Those o-rings you referred to are 4mm ID. What sorcerer's magic is at work here?

Corsair K90 would be an obvious one.

As far as i'm aware you can only get Das keyboards in the 104 US layout, which is the reason I didn't get one and perhaps for others too.

I ended up ordering the Filco tenkeyless blues with yellow WASD keys last night :D. I'd never really considered tenkeyless before but I don't think I've ever used the number pad on any keyboard and whilst the Das has a USB hub which I'd like for my mouse it's on the right hand side so is useless for 90% of people.

If you search for "das keyboard uk" the first link that isn't Das' website sells the UK layout of every model.

I'm quite interested in getting a Filco keyboard. Having used some really old mechanical keyboards at work I love the action and feel of the keys. I don't really game much so would I be right in thinking that the Cherry MX Blues are best for someone mainly intending to type with their Filco?

The Mionix is MX Blacks which IMO while great for FPS gaming aren't as well suited to most MMOs.

The Qpad would look like fulfilling your requirements the most tho I'm not overly familiar with how Cherry Reds work for MMOs I'd have thought MX Browns would be more beneficial there.

Blues, Clears, Brown tend to be best for typing (probably in that order), avoid blacks as they are horrendous for typing and reds will be very subjective to taste but not great for typing for most people.

Cheers Rroff, so blues the best of those three, with brown at the bottom of that list yes? Just checking the order you're putting them in. :p

Seeing as I won't get the Filco for gaming I won't get the Tenkeyless version. :) Are these OK to buy through Ebay? The model I'm looking at is the UK Filco Majestouch-2, NKR, Click Action Keyboard with Blue switches, that the best one for me?
