** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

One of the best things about mechanical keyboards is the loud clicking noises it makes.

That's one of the reason why I went from brown switches to blues. I love the satisfying click the blues make. With o-rings fitted to blue switches I think it's definitely the best switch.

I did like Flico (browns) but I missed backlighting, I'm absolutely loving my Razer BlackWidow Ultimate a lot more, sexy looks, build quality and it looks the dogs danglies in the dark. Definitely the best keyboard so far.

I got the MK-50, perfect IMO.
- red switches are the right pressure, blacks are too stiff
- much better priced than alternatives with lighting, software, macro keys, etc.
- comfortable wrist rest
- top notch build quality

I've just got the mk-85 and the Filco Majestouch 2 tenkeyless for my Mac Pro, I love BOTH keyboards, top notch quality, god I am such a geek!

am i allowed to ask where you bought it?

I can also vouch for the place which Kamwah mentioned. I bought my filco from there and so did one of my flatmates. No complaints with their communication and service, and they're pretty much the only place to get a UK ISO layout filco so it's not like you have much choice :)

Hi,

Question for you if I may?
I like the idea of trying a mechanical kb and the red switches sound ideal.
The only thing putting me off is I have used backlit kb's for years now so wonder if the supplied extra orange wasd keys are any more visible in the dark or do they feel different enough to help locate your fingers (hope that makes sense).

Can't really justify spending on a MK-85.

Thanks.

The white lettering is quite bright, the light from your monitor is enough to let you read it - but of course you don't even need to read it, just reposition your hands - so I think it's not necessary to have a backlight.

I just got the orange keys out to have a look, if anything I'd say they're a gimmick and you probably wouldn't want to use them - they feel cheap compared to the standard keys.

Why are so many people looking at their keyboard during games? Backlights seem like such a gimmick to me.

You say that, but I have never had a backlit keyboard and never would think I would like it, but I absolutely love the MK-85 even the red light looks really smart.

I also have the Filco for my mac pro, which is primarily used for typing, and I love that too in it's simplicity.

I use them because they feel different. Allows me to know where my hands are on the keyboard as during SC2 my hands don't hover around the F and J tells.

Tried it last night with my backlighting switched off and it was impossible for me to type squad/team messages so switched the backlighting on again.

It was never a gimmick for me it served a purpose.

Same for me. If the light is off, I simply can't see what keys I'm pressing.

Anyone got any opinions about the Ozone Strike? Seems to be decent value to me - I'm not looking for anything flash like macro keys or backlighting, just a well made product which does what it should.
