** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

From my experience clears are great - most of the benefits of blacks for FPS gaming but actually useable for typing to - my old keyboard had them but I couldn't find a decent keyboard with clears when looking for a new one :(

Just about typical.

Ordered the MK-85 last night for £130

on offer from today for £120 :(

Post in customer support they normally very good and may give you the dif back.

Loving my new board altho have noticed can be oversensitive :). Had it a day now still need lot getting used but loving every min of it. I was strugling to justifiy spending £100 on a keyboard when I ordered now I am so glad I did worth every penny.

You think they will hold the offer until i save another £60 :p

Always seem to have no spare cash for these great offers grrrrrrrr :)

No offence Hangtime but Zowie is a terrible brand.

None taken :)
The celeritas seemed to get a lot of support on here and on the face of it seemed to meet my requirements:

-PS2 so no worries about USB rates and rollover etc
-Not massively loud (like blues)
-Good reviews

The board I actually wanted originally was the Steelseries 6GV2 which had PS2 and black switches for FPS gaming, but nowhere seemed to have it in stock for the correct price (~£75) and I was monitoring for quite a while before pulling the trigger when an offer came up on the Celeritas.

After a few recent terrible experiences with various wireless keyboard/mouse sets (Microsoft and stuttering, etc) I decided I wanted a mechanical keyboard again and would move away from wireless. After some extensive research I decided I wanted a keyboard with Cherry MX Brown switches for a good balance between probably 70% normal/office use and 30% gaming.

I've searched around and really wanted the Filco Majestouch Ninja or a custom WASD, but cant justify £130+ right now (Also bought a SS Sensei) so have settled on the QPAD MK-50 at £79 delivered and then maybe getting hold of some custom keys through WASD.

So before I go and buy... are there any better options at this price point?

Yea the Steelseries gets a lot of love. I'm not a big fan of the popular gaming brands. If you ever decide to get a really good Mechanical I'd go for a Filco,Leopold or a Ducky. They have everything you mentioned :)

Read my reply to Hangtime. If you aim for a cheaper keyboard you'll feel it. Qpad are quite good though as I have a MK85.

This thread is awesome, I've ordered the CM Storm Quickfire Rapid. Looks awesome and don't need a numpad. I've got limited desk space so its perfect for me :).

Apparently not so good this time as I have had an apology but no refund.

I'm sure I will think the keyboard is cool all the same when it arrives within the next hour.

I've ordered the Filco ninja majestouch-2.

Should arrive today/tomorrow. Will be using for typing/coding and some games. Hope it's good.

I know I should have just believed the favourable comments about the Qpad MK-85 but now having used it I can say my G15 is destined for retirement in a dark place.

The cherry red key action is really nice, smooth and light and the backlighting is so clear through the keys.
Rubberised stealthy finish this is just absolute top quality.....................impressed.

Has it made my BF3 night any better? Nah but hey I got a nice keyboard

Very easy due to the keys being easier to remove you can get under them to clean. (just remember the location of all the keys lol).

Yeah really easy to remove aren't they?! You no longer need to fear damaging a key when you remove it.

But how are they actually held onto the keyboard? They just seem to.... stick.

Yep basicly just pull them they come off and push them they go back on :). Way seems to work with my keyboard.

Got the Filco delivered today - typing on it right now.

I keeping making mistakes when I type at the moment - I think it will take a little time to get used to it.

Keys feel very light on the finger - feels good
Heavy, build feels solid - won't be moving from where I leave it
No key prints on top (on front) will take getting used to but I like it
Small footprint

All in all I'm liking it - feels like I'm using less energy to type.

Will give it a day or two to get used to it.
