** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

Has anyone here had hands on experience of filco or DAS cherry blue switches, and also the cherry blue Qpad MK80, and is there any difference in the feel and the clicky sound? What I mean is, I'm tempted to get the Qpad since it's backlit, but does it feel and sound as good as the filco/DAS?

I use the Qpad MK80 blue every day, excellent keyboard. I have had mine over a year, one of the best build keyboards i have ever used.

Yeah I used the DAS Ultimate.

Very awesome to type on, lovely sound. ****es people off who are easily irritated on skype though :p

I know this is the mechanical thread, but does anyone know a good cheap keyboard around £20, I bought this Microsoft Sidewinder x6 about a year ago, and basically the thing underneath the keys keeps moving around which is starting to do my head in because everyday a different key becomes harder to press and when I move the thing underneath to realign the domes it just happens again on a different part of the keyboard.

Also has a ghosting problem which is rarely noticeable but annoying to.

So any help would be great, I've tried fixing this but nothing works

sidewinder x4 is supposed to be among the best membrane keyboards, but i'm not sure of the price. Surprisingly enough the keyboards that dell bundle with their PCs are also quite nice, if you're lucky you might find one of those second hand somewhere.

other than that, no idea. i think most membrane keyboards are basically the same (regardless of price) the more expensive ones just add gimmicks like macro keys, backlight, lcd screens etc, but the typing itself is just the same.

try logitech, i've never seen a bad logitech product, and i've used many.

Will look into it cheers, I actually have a Logitech behind me that I'm going to plug in but the keys feel like they give a 'rough' feedback [kind of hard to explain] but I just want a similar cheap keyboard that has the same feel as the sidewinder really.

I have the Qpad MK-85, yes its red cherry and some say its too clicky noisy but tbh i dont notice it much at all anymore... girlfriend hated the old keyboard i had (standard cheap oem) and hasnt complained about this yet, the feel and response you get from this is unmatched by anything i have used...

You 100% should go mechanical... also with the mouse!

Filco.

Better quality and a PROPER UK Layout. Cannot be doing with that US half height Return key incorrectly placed \ malarky!

Not sure why you think the CM keyboard in question doesn't have a UK layout, i reviewed it and the layout is perfect.

The build quality thing can often be a brand thing to. The difference in the full size keyboards can often be small enough to spend the extra £10 or so on a filco, but in the case of a tenkeyless, the CM Storm QFR is £50 cheaper and is built in the same factory as the equivalent filco. In that case, the difference is not enough to justify the price, unless you plan to hammer your keyboard every day.

Well basically Filco for me would cost twice as much as CS Storm and i also heard their both manufactured in the same place
