** The Official OcUK Mechanical Keyboard Thread **

I see you watched my awesome video unboxing?! :D
I did indeed! Thanks for the image ;)
What is the difference between US layout and UK layout?

Clear observations show the enter key is set to a landscape structure on the U.S layout, the @ key is also switched with the " that we are used to on the UK layout.
There are other differences also, nothing major. Couldn't be dealing with that enter key though :)

The " and @ I find really annoying as a programmer, but I could easily flick it back to the UK layout in software and ignore whats on the keys. Its the fact that the Enter key is different that kills me.

When using a keyboard I always hit Enter at the top of the UK button.. which isn't Enter on the US layout.

Nope. Don't take just my word for it but I would never touch that, it looks cheap and never heard of them either. I would just pay for an expensive one tbh, you wouldn't need to replace it for a couple years anyway, but that looks like it would probably break in like 5 minutes :P

Thanks though i'm thinking of trying a ten keyless or a more compact keyboard as I never use the number pad on mine. Anything under £60 anywhere?

Noppoo Choc Mini is a tenkeyless for about £80 including shipping. It comes in all switches and is easily available on the bay through trusted sellers.

You've never heard of Zalman!?

Agreed, their keyboards are an unknown quantity, but don't presume to discount them without further research...

Is the Osmium the only backlit mechanical keyboard with usb 3.0 hub guys?

I have a USB 3 stick and use it regularly so to stick in the keyboard rather than reach over to the case or faff around with a usb extension cable would be great but I want a keyboard without all the extra wheels and buttons that the Osmium has. Thanks :)

I've never heard of the Osmium and I'd steer clear from any brand thats not well-known.

I know it's an old keyboard, but i've been using a Raptor Gaming K1 for 6 years now, the ctrl buttons have just stopped working in the last 2 weeks. Cherry MX Black's and glow in the dark keys (taller than normal keys, so easily detectable via touch) and key-stops, preventing any accidental button pushes you may have. I've just ordered a Cooler Master Trigger to replace it, if it puts up with what this keyboard has over the years i'll be majorly impressed.

Need some assistance, chaps.

I spilled beer on my mech keyboard and whilst all the keys have recovered, my left shift key is sticking. I have been rubbing isopropanol over the top of the switch to try and help remove the gunk which works, but only for a few hours. Would it cause a problem if I dabbed some 3-In-One Oil on the switch to help it lubricate?

Use that guide.

Thinking I'm going to get a mechanical keyboard sometime soon. Thinking I might go with the das one, what others should I be looking at?
