**** The Official OnePlus 5 Thread ****

I dont suppose anyone knows if OnePlus will deliver to BFPO addresses? I'll be buying it for work and it's a deal breaker if it can only be shipped to regular home addresses. I've asked O2 already and they wont do it which is a shame.

Performance difference is night and day? Is the S8+ really that bad? I have neither device, just interested!

Nope, the Galaxy S8 Plus is still pretty quick, it's not like the touchwiz of old but still not stock Android fast, although this normally only shows in silly speedtests.

Galaxy S8 Plus to OnePlus 5 is a downgrade, not sure if he's being serious or trolling.

Have you used both in real world conditions? :)

The OP5 is a lot faster. Period.

I have used both the Galaxy S8 and S8+, I can only compare in reference to the OnePlus 3 which already fast, they were more than acceptable.

FYI - "a lot" is not a word, sorry but that one does bug me a little.

I walked into O2 yesterday and walked out with one :) Coming from an S8+ I love it - only downside so far is the camera slightly and the screen. Performance is night and day.

I had a standard setup with standard apps and the lag sometimes was horrible - especially when opening the camera and taking pics. Battery was hit and miss too.
Got the same apps on the OP5 and it just delivers everytime. Worrying how much it stores in RAM :D

It is quite damming when a Samsung site points out the same kind of issues.

Still touchwiz even if they give it a fancy new name & new icons.

@kona786 Thanks for your impressions Mate. That sounds excellent. Clocking up over 6 hours SOT is very impressive! A worthy replacement to your Nexus 6.

Finally got my hands on my OP5 yesterday and I agree with your thoughts about the build quality. To be honest I wasn't expecting much from the phone from a 3T users standpoint but it surprised me in a very good way.

The phone is rapid even more so than the U11 and that is no mean feat. It's a very decent phone however I am torn between this and the U11 as the latter does have the advantage of expandable memory. The downside of the U11 is the barebones software experience whereas Oxygen OS is superb.

As a matter of interest what case did you end up getting in the end?

Have you had a chance to have a go on the camera?

Cheers stoosh, I should be able to test out battery life properly today on wards as I just got my case through. Itching to use it as my daily.

I originally had the rosewood snap on case and but wasn't for me, so I went for this silicon case in black and it suits me perfectly - https://oneplus.net/uk/oneplus-5-silicone-protective-case. Really nicely finished and phone still looks great in it plus feels good.

For me there is no other phone on the market that is more suitable at this time - Fastest phone around - so fluid and smooth, 16:9 flat OLED with sRGB calibration and more than bright enough outdoors, stock Android with a load of useful added features baked into the rom, fastest charging around vs other OEMs, sleek subtle aluminium design with great build quality, strong 3.5mm headphone output, good fast camera's (not the best by any means but good enough for me), regular SW updates, exclusivity, etc etc.

I've not had much of a go on the camera as I didn't have a case but will do from now on. Shame the weathers taken a nose dive. I'm expecting OnePlus to regularly update the camera via OTA's to get the best out of it.

HTH.

Edit - I don't recommend the case I linked above, it's an absolute dust magnet!

No worries Mate! Nice one for getting the case and for posting up the link even though it's a dust magnet!

The phone is spot on and your observations are hitting the mark and it's the best flat screen OLED device out there which is blisteringly fast and nothing at this moment in time can touch it.

Shame the weather has taken a turn for the worse though, thanks for your observations. Am glad you're enjoying the phone. With regards to SW updates I've heard that OP will be releasing a fix for the 4K video which will have EIS - a result!

I'm liking the OP5 too however I have a major bug bear - the damn phone vibrates for literally everything I do - downloading files, copying files from OTG, downloading apps from the Play store - it will vibrate for every kb of file downloaded and or copied...

It's really getting on my nerves. I've had to resort to turning the vibrate off which isn't really useful as I need the vibrate on for work. Do you have the same thing happening to you?

No mine doesn't vibrate on those things, that's very odd. Did you turn off vibrate on tap in the settings?

The case is much less of a dust magnet after a days use, guess it needed scrubbing in.

Also managed 5h35m screen on time with 7% remaining for my first proper day of use. Not too shabby.

Yes Mate turned the vibration off on tap in settings and it's still doing the same thing. It may have to go back...

Good to hear that the case is less of a dust magnet after a few days!

On another note I've had a 4.5.3 OTA update notification pop up...bug fixes 54MB in size

Factory reset and update seems to have done the trick.
Am happy again lol

Glad to see that OnePlus are pushing out updates for the device.

Have you had a chance to play music through headphones yet? I've read that OP5 has 32bit playback as standard which is a bonus to have!

Still waiting on my cheap TPU case to arrive so I can't use the phone as my daily driver which is a shame.

Pleasantly surprised with the shipping from One Plus.

Ordered first thing Tuesday and was given an estimated delivery date of 04/07/2017.

Phone arrived today.

Will enjoy setting it up this evening and leaving my Apple days behind.

^Nice one! Enjoy the device is a superb piece of kit considering the price.

OnePlus have improved considerably as the years have gone by and they have got rid of the annoying invite system and their CS is quite responsive too.

Had mine for 5 days now from O2, replacing my Nexus 6P, and boy this is a nice upgrade. Never had a OnePlus device before but very impressed with it and cannot seem to see the WiFi issues mentioned on the OnePlus community site or any other issues mentioned there.

Updated to 4.5.3 this week also.

Have the 8/128 model.
