**** The Official OnePlus 5 Thread ****

That was over a 16 hr period on a night shift. Emails, Web browsing, YouTube, phone calls, messaging, Twitter etc. No gaming. It definitely impressed me.

Nothing you've mentioned there is very demanding on the battery and since it was at night I doubt you needed the brightness turned up much.

Not saying battery life on the OnePlus 5 isn't good but those results in context are not that impressive.

That's what I thought, I think I'll wait for the Pixel 2.

I don't really use much more than 32GB, it's nice too have the buffer in case I need it but 64GB is more than enough for me.

If they priced this at £350-400 I would have probably ordered one, but for £450-500 I just don't think I can do it.

What happened to the company that produced good value smartphones? this is a huge departure from what they're know for.
Brexit killed GBP.

The pixel 2 will be Samsung prices so I don't see why it would be an alternative.

Samsung prices are pretty good if you shop around. ;)

The problem is £500 is a lot of money to commit to a phone with the sub par camera and display, no water resistance, wireless charging or an sdcard slot.

I'd rather sink £700 into a phone knowing it offers the best experience on the market, we'll see. There is still hope ZTE will release something that's decent value this year.

OS and usability its night and day compared to IOS. Taking some getting used to but I already love Android more, its cleaner, quicker and really customisable. OS preference will vary massively between users but my comments are purely based on my experience.

I think it probably helps that OP use a very near stock version of Android on their phones. Stock Android is excellent now and there's no reason to put a heavy skin on like some manufacturers do.

Spending some time with the OP5 this morning. It's not as much a clone of the iPhone 7 as I was made to believe, doesn't quite feel as nice in the hand or as premium as the 3T. Camera is fine so far, ideal for day to day use. Trying to find out if there's a RAW mode in there somewhere, would be nice.

Go to professional mode and then there is a raw option.

The camera is fine for day to day use, the display isn't sub par, for myself I'd rather have an OS that is clean, fast with no lag. I also have no desire for wireless charging at the moment, also no need for an sd slot.

I've had Samsung phones right up to last year, I prefer the experience with OnePlus.

If you want to dismiss the OnePlus phones; frankly you're missing out.

Yes, the camera is fine just, like the OnePlus 3 camera was fine last year, but they weren't charging £499 for the privilege of using it.

The display isn't any better than what is was the Note 3 back in 2013, the display is mediocre for 2017, it's not very bright, it's not very sharp and it's not power efficient either, but it's OLED so we have to forgive all of these points.

I have a OnePlus 3 and I've used a mixture of Samsung and OnePlus devices over the last five years, I'm not sure what would even be the point of me buying the OnePlus 5, other than the slightly better camera for all intent and purpose you might as well still be using a OnePlus 3.

Had mine since Tuesday and I'm generally very happy with it, my 1st OnePlus :)

Possible battery issue? Charged her fully from my PC overnight on Tuesday whilst I copied my media over and that charge lasted until mid-afternoon yesterday. I wanted to see what the battery was like and, with the usage I gave it, I wasn't disappointed!

I used the supplied Dash charger and cable when I got home and it was unplugged at 7:30 at 100%. I went to the cinema where I don't get any signal, one bar if I'm lucky. Certainly no data. When I left at around 10 the phone was at 81% - I couldn't believe it, it literally hadn't been used?!

A couple of texts, bit of WhatsApp/Telegram and a two minute phone call later and I'm here:

I know it's early days on the battery but I can't carry on like that! I've hardly used it? I'm just about to go out on my bike (Starva etc) and I reckon that'll probably finish it off, in under 24hrs!

Any thoughts?

Well poor signal areas are can be ones where battery use is very high, as it is constantly searching for a signal

You've definitely got some more stuff than just a few telegrams/whatsapps going on in the background as well judging by your status bar :p

Thinking about coming from an s6

Is OP5 going to be more of a sidegrade or an upgrade generally?

I want a bigger screen but this one seems to have a lower resolution, although might not be massively important, i use it to remote control my proper camera and adjust settings, so seeing detail is handy.
