**** The Official OnePlus 6 Thread ****

The Karbon case is nice but I'd def go for the Ebony Wood, possibly both of them so could switch time to time :)

I just wish the damn thing had a notification light, but I suppose I could use an 'Always On' App during the day (when I'd most need it). Didn't hammer the Pixel too badly when I tried it.

Always on isn’t always on it is? you have to touch the screen to get it to show.

Seemingly not. What they have is an Ambient Display which is not the same as Always On. From my OG Pixel days this should mean that the screen should light up when notifications come through then go to sleep again after a minute or so, I'm not sure what way it's implemented on the 6T. I believe OP said they ditched it because of battery issues although if that's the case you'd have thought they would have implemented it anyway and given users the option to turn it on or off.

Ahh good to know. Thanks for the info mate :)

Went to Belfast today, about 80 minutes drive from home. Called into O2 store there and they had the 6T on display. I have to say I was very impressed with it. It was the Mirror Black variant and it is very nice. It does sort of have a slight metallic sheen to it so it doesn't look as cheap as you'd think black glossy would be.

So how many of you will be upgrading to the OP6T this week then?

It would be interesting to see if any OP6 owners are going to upgrade because for those people I can’t see this ‘tock’ version would be worth it.

Biggest problem with the 5t for me is how flipping slippery it is. Got a dbrand skin on it which helps, but I'd rather not have the skin!

How is the mirror and matt finish in terms of slipperyness?

Whatever my phone a Spigen is applied straight out of the box and remains there throughout my ownership. I’m not interested in image, only functionality and protecting my investment.

That’s just me though.

Problem is putting a case on a phone designed to be tactile and gorgeous is a bit like putting bin bags on leather case seats to protect them.

Just seems daft to me. Guess it takes all sorts.

Problem being when glass and concrete meet, concrete will always be the winner. I actually prefer the look of my phone when fitted with a nice case.

Too true. Same can be said about cars and concrete. But no-one covers their car in mattresses they drive carefully to appreciate the car design.

I've never dropped a phone, but I know my 5t would end up being dropped without a skin as it's just too slippy.

Got the 9.0.2 update on my OP6 via VPN which has all the 6T camera improvements and gesture 2.0 in the update as well as November 1st security patch.

Nice one OP...

I can’t make the same claim myself. Only the other week I caught the corner of my S7 as I pulled it out of my pocket. The phone quite literally went up in the air, came down on one corner onto a concrete path, did a slight upwards bounce and I managed to catch it. Damage to phone in Spigen case - zero.

Given I never insure my phones that would have been an expensive drop without a case.

P.S. your car analogy. You might cover it in mattresses if it was constructed mainly of fragile glass. ;)

Its funny. I came to the 5t via a Nexus 4 which would slip of anything fabric (arm of sofa etc) at the slightest angle. But in teh hand was not too slippery at all. Then had a Nexus 5x which was also just fine in the hand. But developed a boot-loop-of-death out of warranty so is now extinct.

The 5t is a great phone (bar the camera), but if it didn't have a skin on it would just be far too slippery. All it needs is a slight texture.

The matt black one might be OK - I'll need to try and find one.
